A Soon To Be Fit Davies Linked To Celtic Loan

The Guardian claim that Celtic want Villa defender Curtis Davies on loan for the rest of the season.

Davies is close to full fitness following his shoulder surgery but fears he won't be able to get back into the team with James Collins, Richard Dunne and Carlos Cuellar all now before him in the pecking order.

The report, which stands a good chance of being denied by the club you would think (?), also says that Davies will want some reassurance as to his future at Villa.

If you remember some months back there were quotes from his agent saying they felt let down because Davies was just two games shy of having his contract re-negotiated, which all seemed a bit mad as MON / Villa hadn't caused his injury and with him out for so long, what club would have entered into negotiations?

Be interesting to see what happens, I guess to get his fitness back and first team football, a loan move wouldn't be the end of the world and it would be up to Villa what re-call terms they put in place?

Didn't MON sign Davies off Tony Mowbray in the first place? Every side wins in this situation, I guess.

Think it's just one of those things when a club is trying to progress at a rapid rate. There are going to be some players who are replaced by better players after a very short amount of time. That seems to have happened here and I can't see Villa escaping fairly large financial hit when Davies is eventually given his P45.

Hold on fellas...Curtis is well young and this would PURELY be a fitness task. Celtic cannot afford him and can offer nobody in exchange. There is no way he would want to go up there and play with that tit Maloney anyhow. At any point in the next wo seasons he could be part of the meanest defense in the EPL. He ain't gone, MoN will bring him back, slowly but surely. Don't write him off lads.

So, how much are you giving us to take 'always injured' off your hands for 5 months? And, do we get a free curry thrown in?

Celtic have spent more during the current transfer window than any other club on these islands. There's a strange fact for you all!

I dont see what we would gain from loaning him out he's a good player who plays much better when he's next to an intelligent defensive partner, which Zat was not.

its better than reserve football, but its not a challenging standard they only have 4 games a year up there now the rest is like championship or even League one at the bottom according to my Celtic mates

I think Cuellar will continue to be played at RB until an ex Celtic/Leicester RB starts making noises ;-).... ok i'm playing but he does seem to look for excuses to put Cuellar there. This being said, if Collins or Dunne are suspended/injured then Davies will will slip back in no problem as long as he's fit. He shouldn't go out on loan, i think we'll need him.

i do NOT want to loan out davis. With just one injury to our back line he will be desperately needed, plus i still think he is good enough to chalange for the world cup places

Aaaand sense prevails. He is absolutely one for the World Cup....but not this one - the next, he'll be tremendous by then. If we get shot of him Arsene will laugh his socks off and have him the season after. He will be top drawer by the time Dunne looks to be retiring and the cebtral defenders will rotate with injuries and suspensions anyway.

No way do we want to get rid of Curtis, a long run of games without injury and he will be different class to any of our current CBs, as not only is he a good defender but he can play a bit too
