How to get your Wembley tickets - but be quick

Our 31,000 tickets will quite rightly go to fans who actually support the club by buying and attending matches.

Season ticket holders first and then on a sliding scale of non season ticket fans who have attended the most games.

Unfortunately there will be fans now live in other countries who can't attend games. And there will be fans who would like to attend more games, but who can't for a variety of reasons. It is just a fact of life that these fans will be last in the queue and will most likely only have the choice of the most expensive tickets if any remain.

However there will be a thousands of fans who will try and buy tickets at more than face value from touts and agencies. With hotel accommodation, travel, food, beer, programmes etc, the day is going to cost about £250 each (and possibly more dependent on which packages are purchased) Fans will find the money for this . . . . . but plead poverty when the issue of season tickets come up.

The simple answer in the future is to buy a season ticket with the money that you have spent on the odd game you have been to and with the money that will 'magically' appear now we are at Wembley.

If you cant attend a game for whatever reason then sell tickets on a match by match basis on Seat Exchange. By doing that you get your money back for the games you do not attend, but are guaranteed tickets for occasions such as this. Simples!

Leaving aside my cynicism of our glory hunters, we are in a great position in that the other semi final is still to be decided. So book your hotels now before the Manc game has a winner. As soon as they know who is coming down, hotel rooms will be at a premium.

I got 2 four man rooms rooms at a Premier Inn, 2 miles from the stadium for £75 a room. It is the same with coach and rail tickets. Book them before next Wednesday and you will save yourself a fortune.

Wembley has 10,000 Centenary Club members (these are 'fans' who have 10 year tickets but only go occasionally). In truth they are usually purchased by businesses for corporate entertaining. These tickets will be available to anybody in the know on a first come first served basis. Get a hold of any contacts you have and snap up these tickets now.

Alternatively check out who the big agencies are and book your tickets now. There will be organisations ready to take your cash before the other semi final has been decided. If you leave it until next Thursday then you are leaving it too late. However I still think it is easier to buy a season ticket and you do not have to go through this hassle.

Hotel bookings? Bloody hell be a right p*ss up if we win the cup!!! Of course be a very sombre evening if we don't. I will just be getting the train back I think, just in case. Plus with not having a season ticket this season I might end up paying a little over the odds for a ticket.

People who can not attend regularly could buy a season ticket (half season ticket), each season - in the hope that Villa might reach a Cup Final - but that would have added up to a decent amount of outlay since we were last at Wembley! I know you say people can sell their 'unwanted' tickets, game by game, on Seatexchange but, with Villa hardly ever selling out (particularly for midweek games where the need to 'get rid' is even greater), I have found it very hard to sell on these tickets on the occasions I have tried it. Since 2000 I estimate that fans could have spent at least £2000 on season tickets just to get to 1 final. Even if they popped over to the odd match, costing them considerable travel money each time, and they did manage to sell unwanted tickets for 50% of the games, that is still a considerable outlay for one League Cup Final. I suggest - for those who can't attend very often but REALLY want to see any Cup Finals Villa reach - people should put a little money away each week/month, just in case. Only £10 a month since May 2000 would have accumulated you £1160, which is more than enough to get you a couple of tickets plus all the extras. There is one problem with my idea of course. If Villa were every good enough/lucky enough to reach a final every year, you might find it cheaper to get a half season ticket. Not sure we have to worry about that scenario just yet though.

I have to say that I am disaapointed about the "glory hunter" tag if you want to go to wembley!! I live in London and still play football myself, so cannot attend half as many games as I would like! And to be tagged a glory hunter just because of it is over the top! It certainly doesnt mean that I am any less a fan! If you want the club to grow, and future attendances to increase, you will have to get used to "glory hunters"

But as you are not in a position to put much money into the club you will be behind those who do, in the queue for tickets. If they had put their money in more often then maybe we would be contesting finals on a more regular basis, in front of full houses every week and have players demanding to join us. I have been asked by loads of people if I can help with tickets and have had great satisfaction in saying that they are going to fans who go the most. If you are not one of those then . . . . tough.

I totally agree ST Holders take priority but it should then go on general sale first come first served. I have not been to many games this season (7 in total) but not all have been paid for via my client ref, so I may struggle to get a ticket. I think I will be in London for it whatever happens, buying from a tout or in a London boozer with my fellow villans.

Its right that season ticket holders are first in line, then we turn to those who attend the most games. Yes there's valid reasons why some supporters cant get to too many matches, but surely they can appreciate why the regular supporters get preference. I know several fans who travel to each and every away game, I see them there, who for whatever reason are not VP season ticket holders. They shouldn't lose out on a Wembley trip when they make it up to the likes of Sunderland on a work night (twice this season) because the occasional supporter feels the need to be at Wembley. Enjoy the day/weekend, all the supporters who land the tickets.

I have only made it over for one game this season and rightly enough, that was against Chelsea but last season I made two games, The Baggies and Hull, hardly the glory hunter games, I think you'll agree. My match attendance is based on when I can get there rather than who is playing as I am a Villa fan not a ManU/L'pool/Chelsea/Arse fan.

What i think voiceoftheholte is trying to say is that simply fans who go the most get priority over those who dont, i think the glory fans bit is not aimed at people like ulster villa but more the people who live ocal and can but choose not to go, then think they deserve a ticket. Sad fact is, if we had an allocation of 50000 we would sell it, yet we cant sell out for most home games

However tickets are still going to go to people who spend most money supporting the club. You spend your money on travel, hotels airlines and whatever to get to the game. If somebody spends money on going to 7 villa games and nothing on travel they will be before you in the queue regardless of how much you have spent with other organisations. I happen to think that is right. Doesnt make it any easier for you though, but tickets must always be prioritised to those who attend the most games, not those who spent the most money getting there.

I live in cambridge so it's pretty difficult for me to get to games as regularly as i'd like but i'm going to bcu in september so i'm gonna sort myself a seasony ticky out with my student loan :) obviously gutted that I can't get myself a wembley ticket. i've been to 8 home games this season and 1 away (soon to be 3 come fulham and spurs).. what chance does that leave me with/on the scale?

I'm no glory hunter supported villa since 1969, was a season ticket holder for years, went to the 41 off 42 games we played when we last won the league, went to european cup final, fast forward to now have attended 2 games this season, reason self employed carpenter with hardly any work due to east europeans having our jobs, would have loved to go to wembley, but cannot afford it, i would class myself as a true supporter.

And I agree with the way the tickets are to be issued. I once asked the General if there was any chance of getting my own helicopter to attended games but as that wasn't possible I am still paying airlines to get me there. Its not sour grapes about the chances of getting to the game, but I don't see any harm in trying to go to any game, be it Brighton or Blues, Cup final or MSK Zilina. Villan of the North, I only ever plan for matches that I can attend for work reasons just like you say yourself. Since the day God invented low budget airlines I have been going across when I can, but as yet have never seen Villa play Blues, LPool, Arsenal, Chelsea all for one simple reason..I couldnt go on those dates. All im pointing out is that these are the only games that you might be able to sell on seat exchange. I am actually waiting to see what kind of package Villa are putting on at VP as a plan B. Hope its a wine and cheese evening :)

Perhaps it would be fairer if we raffled off cup final tickets to anyone who has ever been to Villa park or perhaps watched a game on TV or bought a Villa shirt ? I must admit I have no problem with fans who go every week rain or shine getting a cup final ticket over me who only does home games and the odd away , just as I expect to get a ticket over someone who has only been to Villa once in his life. If that makes me a lesser or better fan so be it, the club knows who to look after!

I cant believe how many issues this has caused. I understand where the voice is coming from. I dont think it needs to be im a bigger fan then you debates. We all support the same team and its what we will carry on doing wether we attend wembley or not. Simple fact is season ticket holders should get priority because they have attended the games this season. It was the same with blackburn away, I only just got my ticket however, if i had missed out to somebody who had followed the villa to more away games this season then myself then so be it. Voice's article is aimed at people (like myself for away games) who probably could afford to attend but chose not to, or chose the glamourous fixtures. Due to my near miss with away fixtures I will make sure I attend alot more next year then this year. People who live far away should sign up to a supporters club for there region and long standing members of these might be able to pull a few strings

I cant believe how many issues this has caused. I understand where the voice is coming from. I dont think it needs to be im a bigger fan then you debates. We all support the same team and its what we will carry on doing wether we attend wembley or not. Simple fact is season ticket holders should get priority because they have attended the games this season. It was the same with blackburn away, I only just got my ticket however, if i had missed out to somebody who had followed the villa to more away games this season then myself then so be it. Voice's article is aimed at people (like myself for away games) who probably could afford to attend but chose not to, or chose the glamourous fixtures. Due to my near miss with away fixtures I will make sure I attend alot more next year then this year. People who live far away should sign up to a supporters club for there region and long standing members of these might be able to pull a few strings

P. VILLA it won't be your granddads last chance as there will be the FA cup final this year. I have the same problem with a 92 year old granddad, me and my father with season tickets or my dad and granddad using my ticket. Still I;m only 40, so should et another chance in the next 40 years or so!!

i've been a season ticket holder the last few years, im a student in London and in my final year it was hard to find the funds and dedicate the time to villa games. I would gladly pay £250 for the day as we dont know when we will get there again, also it would make it up that i wasn't able to be a VP very much this season. A season ticket for me has cost about £400 plus commuting fares in the past. Does that make me a glory hunter?

It's clear to me that the club do have it about right in how they are making tickets available. However the way this article is written it seems to be full of sarcasm, slight digs and a whinge against others. This is clearly going to insult a few people who may think - why doesnt he just say how to get tickets without taking a cheap pop at others. What makes this worse is that its written on a villa fan site and so it seems it is directed at certain people making it a personal attack. Of course it may not have been intended this way at all and read differently to how it was written.
