Record Scottish Scorer In Talks With Villa?

OK, so this could be interesting. Probably not but who knows!?

I had an email earlier asking if I knew anything about the rumour that Kris Boyd was at Villa Park yesterday. I hadn't.

Then I got this link sent to me: www.thesun.co.uk with a report by Andy Devlin.

The report claims that Villa were 'locked in talks' yesterday with 26-year-old Rangers striker yesterday and that he also spoke with Alex McLeish at Blues.

Boyd has a contract extension at Rangers but is assessing his options as the record goalscorer in the SPL is out of contract in the summer.

The paper also says that Boyd was at the game last night v Blackburn in the Carling Cup and got the full 'VIP treatment'.

Apparently it is a pre-contract agreement not a transfer for now being talked about although the paper also says that McLeish is still hoping to grab him now for the rest of the season.

Boyd is currently on 19 goals for Rangers. His total in his career is 161.

Rangers site info on Boyd: www.rangers.premiumtv.co.uk

So what do you think of this link, a good one or what? I don't watch the SPL so am - as usual some would say including myself if pushed - useless!

available on a free but if the report is right, surely worth £1.5m to grab now? Or swap with Harewood!

If Boyd got the full VIP treatment with Randy and co last night this must be nailed on.

Rod Wallace was top scorer one year up in Scotland. What more do you need to know.

Personally I think he's well worth a punt at £1.5m. I know not all players who make it in Scotland can make it down here (Maloney, Agathe!) but Cueller, Petrov and Larsson have been successes. He's a finisher and that's exactly the kind of player we need to give an alternative / addtion to Gabby. Sign him up MON!

With rangers desperate for cash and him out of contract in the summer bids circa £2M could well get him and for that price its worth a gamble.

I'll take him, a striker that scores goals would be a novelty, although this could be start of Emile's red hot streak :-)

At £2 million definely worth a go. Goal scorers are at a premium and although it is a step up from SPL to Prem he could well be capable of making it. The sort of player that could give us that mid season boost that we never seem to get

That bloke has scored 16 goals in 2/3rds of a season! That link must be rubbish! Villa would have no place for him, my god a striker who scores GOALS? Bet that he ends up at right back if he comes here :P

He can put the ball in the net, albeit the gaping nets of the SPL, so sign him up.

I don't want to say anything too harsh as I did when we were linked to James Collins and look how wrong I was there! That said, I really don't see him as someone who is going to move us forward so it's a 'no thanks' from me. I mean our immediate competitors have; Defoe, Torres and Tevez respectively...

I know Iíll get shot down for this, but I donít think we should go for him. Heís never looked that good to me, and he seems to have an attitude problem. I know heís cheap, but heíll take the place in our squad as a striker so then weíll have 4 (I donít count Harewood), meaning we wonít go for the truly class striker that our team is crying out for. It seems a bit crazy to be that MoN/Lerner will spend years and loads of cash bringing together a fantastic team, when all we need is 1 world class player to finish it off, but MoN wonít go for it! Not that Iím complaining though, last night was immense :)

Everyone is going on about Henrik Larsson. Let's get one thing straight, this guy is no Henrik Larsson.
