No Villa Transfers Unless We Sell First

No Villa Transfers Unless We Sell First

Martin O'Neill has confirmed that he will have to sell players before bringing anyone else in.

He was apparently asked if he would be bringing in a striker and replied to Sky Sports:

'We are not looking at players at this minute because we have to sell. Do I have to sell to buy? We wouldn't be the only club in that position.'

This follows on from the comments the other day: 'I understand about the need for prudence – and I believe in it. But I am a football manager. I get judged on results and not on the long term. Every single club I’ve been at, I have worked to the budgets given to me. That’s at Wycombe, Leicester and at Celtic, so I haven’t changed here.' Adding he is happy with the squad but 'I’m no different to anybody – I’d like it to be stronger.' Full quotes: Villa Transfers Still Possible + Prudence Needed?

Reports suggest that Craig Gardner deal could be done shortly and who knows, maybe a bit more interest will be shown in Nigel Hokey-Cokey that wouldn't be far off £10 million jointly raise for little loss as neither are played very often (not a criticism, just a fact!!)

I just cannot believe we aren't looking at big kenwyne... He has all the attributes to be a top draw striker, he just needs consistent service over a decent period of time and he'll be a goal machine. Heskey and big john look too lightweight for me, they can't take a knock anymore and I'm beginning to think heskey may actually be frightened of the goal....
