A little transfer talk from the other day: HA! Some Aston Villa Transfer Gossip + Lerner
The transfer window is now well and truly open, I saw an article today - one that I couldn't be bothered to do anything about as it is just pants - linking us with .... yup, you've got it, David Bentley from Spurs!

Build up to Sunday's game v West Ham. Lawro and Mystic Mug both say 2-0 to the Villa: Lawro and Mystic Mug Say Villa Win v Hammers
Date for your diary: The Wigan away game, postponed last Saturday because of the weather, has been re-arranged for March 16th with a 7:45pm kick off. This game will however have to be re-arranged again as Villa WILL be in the sixth round of the FA Cup and so will have other commitments...!
The Official site have warned of a couple of games off: Matches involving Villa's reserve and youth teams have been postponed. The reserve league south clash against Fulham, which was due to take place at Hinckley on Monday (January 18), will now be played at Villa Park on Tuesday April 13 (7pm ko). The under-18 and under-16 games between Villa and Coventry City tomorrow (Saturday) have also been postponed, following pitch inspections.
Steve Wade: As the glaciers begin to retreat and thoughts and discussions on the subject of grit resume their more natural spiritual connotations, it looks like football might emerge from its frosty coating and give us a full Premiership programme this weekend. Razorbeef looks back at the last decade for him as a Villa fan. Being still of a relatively young age, this is the first opportunity I have had to be able to look back at a period of time (a decade seems like a lifetime to me, well half of one) and accurately assess goings on. Although the last decade will ultimately be remembered as a relatively uneventful one in Villa's history, it still seems appropriate to look back and review it with the correct amount of nostalgia. Now this is my first article so everyone be kind, though being of quite a stubborn mindset, I don't foresee any disagreements, only universal approval and praise for my efforts. We asked following the transfer talk yesterday that Hull, Bolton, Blackburn and Wigan want Nigel Hokey-Cokey (see: Hokey Cokey In Or Out? Villa Transfer Talk) Would you sell Nigel Reo-Coker? Apparently not! 45% voted 'no, play him'. Full results: So What Do You Think About Nigel Reo-Coker?

Another interesting thread is regarding our strikers. Until 100% looked up the rules, it was thought that Gabby having picked up 5 yellow cards might be suspended v West Ham (he isn't, they aren't carried forward from Dec 31 and before) but the debate is interesting I think! Click Here
Martin O'Neill was quick to praise match-winner James Milner - safe in the knowledge the acclaim won't go to his head. Full article: www.avfc.co.uk

Blimey we are finding it difficult to keep you entertained with articles, so little news about at the moment! Maybe I should make up a link or two?! Talking of links... were we?.... our last poll is slightly related.. see, I'm stretching a wee bit here! We asked: Where will Villa finish without buying in January: 44% voted that we'd finish the same as last season 6th. 25% believe that the top four is still within reach and 15% were most pessimistic predicting a capitulation meaning we finish below 6th. That left 14% predicted we'd finish one better than last season in 5th. Oh and 2% had no idea... thanks for that input folks! :o) Would 6th and some silverware be enough to satisfy you? If we brought home the cup, finished in a European qualifying space again it would be an improvement on the season before but would that improvement be enough for the investment put in?
Fieldy: Well considering it now appears we won't be signing anyone this season, it seems more likely that our youngsters are going to start getting some serious playing time instead. The will we, won't we transfer saga and contradictory comments by Monny have been dealt with elsewhere, so it's probably no real surprise to see the Official Site carrying quotes from O'Neill talking about the next generation of hopefuls in the reserves. It's the way it normally goes, no signings = talk about the youngsters. Full article: Closed Chequebook = Youthful Chance
