THAT Didn't Work MON - More Transfer Links!!!!!

THAT Didn't Work MON - More Transfer Links!!!!!

Well, that didn't work Mr O'Neill! Yesterday he said he didn't expect any movements in the January transfer window: No January Transfers Expected SHOCKER!? (see how I've gone all 'tabloid' to bring in the views!!!) however today the Sunday Sun claim we are after £11million rated Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones. Maybe they missed the memo from MON!

As you will see yourselves: www.sundaysun.co.uk there really is very little in the form of substance or source for this rumour with Birmingham City also being linked.

The main line that would worry me is that although Steve Bruce doesn't want to sell the player he is frustrated by the 25-year-olds "laid-back nature".

Ouch, no thanks... no surely?!

The point is (apart from the fact I VERY much doubt we are looking at him anyway) he appears to be second choice for Sunderland so I would be surprised if we went for 2nd best but was wondering if anyone had anything positive about the guy as I really don't know a great deal about him? Have been asking the same in the transfer thread in the forum and the January thread at the top on the front page: Click Here forum (some adult language)

Wiki Says Record Is:

Southampton 71 (19)
Sheffield Wednesday (loan) 7 (7)
Stoke City (loan) 13 (3)
Sunderland 76 (23)
National team: 2003– Trinidad and Tobago 42 (5)

Just looks sort of average really? But then again, only 25 and so not at his peak, nearly 1 in 3 for Sunderland? Not convinced though!

Yeah, too much snow, too much time on my hands and a little bored so thought I'd look at this non-link link basically!

Our latest poll asks where you think we'll finish this season with no new signings, some interesting article comments in there as well: Where Will Villa Finish Without New Signings?

And some interesting quotes picked up by Vital Villan from MON saying that he may well start to blood in the Villa youth. Wouldn't it be great if they got the chance and took it with both hands - or probably a better idea, both feet!? Full article: Closed Chequebook = Youthful Chance

In news that might shock the footballing world, it appears that Real Madrid stars Karim Benzema and Raúl are mad keen on a move to Villa Park due to their love of canals. Yes, I know, I know, most think Venice when they think of canals but not these two, they know the 'secret' of Brum is that we have more canals than Venice and want to move to Villa in order to pursue their careers whilst exploring the length and breadth of the Brummie 'rivers' in their gold plated canal barges. Rumours suggest they have already done the Watford to Birmingham run and even the current freezing conditions hasn't put them off their quest to move to Villa - they are even prepared to pay part of the transfer fees themselves so board are they with the sun and life in Spain.

All true folks, trust me.

Only other snippet around today is Martin O'Neill talking in the Mercury to Matthew Kendrick saying the only positive of the games being cancelled due to the weather is that at least the players are getting a break to re-charge their batteries. Article and quotes: Click Here

decent target man, prem experience, good age, affordable & getable, would not pay 11-12 mil for him...would rather buy kevin davies, one of the hardest players in the prem to play against, is english cheaper & a better target man...However I feel we need a creative link man or an out & out striker as our next priority & to move us on to the next level...

I would be prepared to wait till next season & get exactly what we need than buy now...We have a bit of strength in depth & that can be complimented with youth who I would like to see gradually given a bit of a chance when we can...We've been patient up till now & that has been worth while..I will be prepared to wait a little longer to see if M'on can get what we need next year & move us on or not...

Spurs fan in peace. I think Kenwyne Jones would be a good acquisition for either of us, wrote an article about it with mixed reviews! Think he'd offer you more than Heskey in terms of goals whereas he's still young, certainly younger than Kevin Davies. I think his body language suggests he's not entirely happy with being at Sunderland, rather than it being a trait.
