I think Keane would be a great acquisition for Villa, and I generally would rate him higher than Carew although they have very different qualities. However, I think it's just WRONG to get rid of Carew ... He is a favorite at Villa Park, he loves playing for Villa, and I think he means a lot to many of the other players in the team; He's a prankster, he is cool, he has a decade of international experience. Sometimes you gotta consider the off-pitch qualities of a player also...
