Former Villa captain Andy Townsend says Villa need more strength up front. Too right!
'I'd still like to see them acquire another striker, one who can improve on the goal output of Heskey and John Carew, one who can lend a hand to Agbonlahor. Times are looking up and there is a Carling Cup semi-final to come, but they're not ready to muscle into the Champions League yet. They need more match-winners first.'

Meanwhile Tony Cascarino also joins the chorus that Villa need another striker to be serious contenders. He told the Times Online:
'Aston Villa didn’t offer nearly enough going forward yesterday against Arsenal. Martin O’Neill should consider adding another attacker next month. They’ve got pace, power and directness, but Villa could do with someone more subtle, a striker who is a link-man between the forwards and the midfield — someone like Eidur Gudjohnsen.'
Talking about strikers, forgotten man Marlon Harewood currently on loan up t'north at Newcastle is mentioned in The Mirror today. They claim that Villa want £250 000 loan fee on top of the players £28 000 a week wages. TWENTY EIGHT THOUSAND POUNDS?!?!?!?! LOL. Wow! He has scored five goals in 15 games for the Barcodes.
All well and good saying we need a new striker... but who? Where from? How much? Would they sell to us whilst we are doing so well? Would top quality really be available in January? MON has said he isn't looking to spend this January, will our current form and the fact we are 4th and in a semi final change his mind? Why do I have all the questions but no answers? Where did I leave my keys?
One thread on strikers in our forum is the Craig Bellamy thread: CLICK HERE However he has said today somewhere that he isn't looking to leave Man City and that he hasn't fallen out with the board of directors or led any player rebellions. He was however dropped at the weekend!?
Just get the feeling - and it isn't a new problem for us - that with just one quality addition up front we could cause major problems for all comers - especially this season, but without it, the pressure on Gabby is too high as Emile Heskey isn't going to weigh in with that many (he will contribute in other ways but goals is what we need regularly) and John Carew well, love him or hate him, he is nothing short of an enigma and I do worry that he disappears more and more during the winter months. Maybe he'll push on this time but I'll not hold my breath.
A striker, a striker, my kingdom for a striker?! Any ideas folks?!
