Aston Villa Transfer Talk - Heskey Out?

How strange the transfer window gossip is, it isn't far off the window opening and yet there seems very little going around about Villa. Now fair enough Martin O'Neill has said he doesn't expect too much movement but surely the papers should at least have linked us yet again to Spurs winger David Bentley and repeated a link or two to swaps between Nigel Hokey-Cokey and Jermaine Jenas. Surely they've not given up?!

Talking about Jermaine's, (just look at that, totally seamless link!!!!!) The Sun today are claiming that Villa are after the Real Zaragoza player. Apparently they are very determined to get rid of him and he will be returning to the Premiership. But to the Villa? Nope, the club dismissed reports a month back saying we weren't after him, I'd happily take that over this report.

Amazing quotes from the director there though! Erard Poschner said: 'We are disappointed with Pennant. This is based on the commitment of the players. With spirit like this it is better to 'sack' some players and seek reinforcements in the winter market. We want players who guarantee their work and effort.'

The Mirror meanwhile are talking about under pressure Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez. The debt ridden club are apparently going to allow Tom Jones mini me to buy two players with our very own Emile Heskey on the list. He was linked to them last summer as well if memory serves me right, or at the very least earlier this season.

Heskey tackling

The report says Heskey, who scored 60 goals for Liverpool in his four years there, is seen as the perfect foil for Fernado Torres

We going to sell an England international striker who is just (injury aside) hitting a bit of form in January when there will be no likely replacements available? Unless Robbie Keane or Carlton Cole are targets, it seems very doubtful doesn't it? What if he wanted to go? Well, we have shown before that we don't suffer fools gladly at Villa but also don't get held to ransom, just look at the Gareth Barry saga.

Hey, I've a great idea, I'll ask in a poll!!!!!!!! Would you sell Heskey?

For me the idea of a January sale is just daft unless we have a top class replacement. I'd say NO. He is finding form I think although the play a few and get an injury history is a shame and a worry. I'd see Carlton Cole as a perfect replacement as they are like for like but would he be available? Doubt it. Also would be intrigued to see what Robbie Keane could do this season to fire us to the Champions League but still seems daft considering selling an England international who is just finding form doesn't it?

the headline picture of Heskey is hilarious, always makes me chuckle.

if it makes you happy fear i think cole will be available purely because of wetspams financial trouble.

Emile Heskey is very important to the remainder of Villa's season IMO. Let him go in the summer, yes, in January, no UNLESS there is a TOP quality striker to replace him. I very much want to keep Heskey, but if the option was to bring in Cole or Keane instead that would make sense.

I've got a great idea!!!! Why don't we give MON and Hesky, and whilst we're at it Ash, Carew, all our defenders & midfielders, Downing, Gabs, and the excellent backroom staff, not forgetting our great owner all to Liverpoll as a big lovely Xmas present!!!! In fact why don't we give the theiving scousers our ground as well as they thing they're so ****ing brilliant they can take what they want! Stupid red t**sers! Hope you go bankrupt and have to sell your Eupopean Cups for hot soup. Merry ****in' Xmas! Serves you right for selling out to those two tw*ts. You've disgraced your history and your Manager is a nutcase.

Hmmm let me think, We have Harewood out on loan, Delfonseou isn't ready yet and then we are left with Carew and Agbonlahor... Can we really Afford to let Heskey Go ? The answer is no, unless we go for Bellamy who wants out of Man City and maybe Keane from Spurs.

We have to keep Heskey even if we get a top world class replacement. It takes time particularly for a striker to get into the way a team plays so even a world class striker is unlikely to just drop in to the team and score goals. I'm not Heskeys biggest fan but he is slowly winning me over

Fear, you're missing a "Sell if replaced with A.N.Other" option... maybe cole & keane aren't the best options for villa? Would love to see Bellamy arrive, but i doubt that will happen :s

Why all the calls for Keane? He hasn't contributed for 90 minutes on a regular for any team for several seasons. Seems to me the Keane supporters are thinking of the player from 5 or 6 years ago. Not the current one.

No need to sell anyone! We need to keep our squad as strong as possible. Who's to say a replacement striker won't get injured. We need to strengthen, not weaken ourselves. We've only got to look to last season to learn that lesson.

Even if we don't play Heskey again this season we CAN'T sell him to a rival even if they are 8 points behind us. This is the beginning of the end for the scousers. They are in enough debt already but when they don't make the Champs League, they will be well and truly *****ed. No-one will want to play for them or especially buy a team full of second rate foreigners and 2 superstars.

Mmmm, wouldn't sell him unless we had to (he wanted out and went to Majorca instead of playing), then wouldn't go for Keane. He and Gabby would end up playing in the same spaces even more than Gabby and Heskey! You'd need another big guy, Carlton I liked, but his time with us was a little underwhelming and you do think both he and Bent need loads of confidence or they perform as well as, well as well as, er, me I suppose! So, I wouldn't sell and Randy should buy all airlines so that no player can disappear to any hot country! I think I'm o/d'd on Christmas!

Heskey, let`s face it, is not and will not ever be a top 50 european striker, at the very least when it comes to goalratio. I say sell him. And why all this hassle about Keane? Same goes for him. Right now I think we should go for a cheeky bid for Luca Toni, or possibly Diego Milito, with a deal for Dzeko ready for june..

Keep him & the other bench players...Heskey is settled & highly thought of by staff & players & hitting some good form...We all know he wont score loads, but with the odd goal here & there & a few assists, with Carew also challenging we'll be fine...I would welcome a signing if it were to improve us mind...but heskey & the bench boys are part of a strong knit group who are all pulling together & that is as important for gettin results & challenging the sky 4.....

If we can get a good price for him i'd let him go . He's playing ok at the moment but he's just as likely to go back to being a passenger . I would love to see one of the youngsters getting a chance or maybe Mon will surprise us again with another great deal like he did with collins and Dunne .
