Heskey Revitalised

Heskey Revitalised

Boy did I never think I'd be writing that....ever. Not even as a joke.

But it's true. Emile Heskey has almost looked like a completely different player the last few weeks. His confidence is back, he's not going missing in games nearly as much and he's actually driving forward towards the opponents goal.

Phenomenal stuff.

Anyway, speaking on the Official Site Heskey who bagged himself another goal last night, paid tribute to our new look midfield and our renewed attacking intent.

Specifically praising Milner and pointing out that he's surprising a number of people, Hesk said:

'Millie has gone in there and done really well. Stewart and Ash can swap all the time too so that gives us something different and Stiliyan has been terrific as usual.

'Millie scored a great goal. He has got the ability to do that. I didn't really expect him to shoot from there but he has that ability and he has a great shot on him.'

As well as being pleased with finding the net again himself, Heskey was also impressed with the work ethic and passion of the team for being able to come away with another good victory despite the hype following the Man U match.

'The boys were all feeling a bit tired but we came here, stayed strong and scored some goals.

'It's nice to be playing first and foremost and if I can chip in with a few goals myself then great.'

im glad someone has highlighted the change in fortunes of heskey. his workrate is phenomenal, tracks back, wins headers in our box from corners and free kicks and hes now finding goals. If he keeps thsi scoring record up he will be a quality player. i agree he can be frustrating when not scoring and you always feel carew would be more likely to get a goal, but you know heskey will give 100%.

He has been brilliant last couple of games, and totally different to the early season Heskey. Just looked like something clicked in him.

Not to blow my own trumpet but I did think that once Downing was in the team he would be better. Put it this way, he is good for England as he plays with his back to goal, laying off balls for runners such as Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney and A.N. Other (Lennon, Cole etc.) and now he has 5 men running forward giving him options at Villa. We are not as reliant on wingers as before and can play through the middle. He can peel away defenders and create space. Downing, Milner, Young, Gabby and Petrov are getting time and space on the ball now as Heskey is a handful for opposition centre-backs. Carew can do the same BUT is too inconsistent. Heskey is a wonderful alternative.

I was not at all a Heskey fan, but I will admit (at least in the past few games) that i was wrong. I think this just goes to show that all those people who had negative things to say about MON, should just put alittle faith in the guy. UTV!

I'm still not convinced I'm afraid.. a couple of decent performances doesn't make up for almost a years worth of poor one's.. But I'm happy to see him gettin a chance n' hopefully he'll change my mind over the next few months
