A Real Goodbye To Carlos Cuellar?
Only bit of transfer talk for Aston Villa that I can see today is by James Nursey in The Mirror.
He is linking Villa and former Rangers centre back Carlos Cuellar to Real Madrid.
Carlos didn't really wow many last season and to be fair to him he was played at right-back more than his favoured central role so didn't get the chance to show us what he could do. This season he has at times been simply outstanding.
Real Madrid? Well, if they come calling and a player wants to go, no team in the world can stop it happening just as Manchester United who are one certainly goofy Christiano Ronaldo short this season.
Also Carlos is Spanish, it would surely be the peak of his career and I would doubt that Martin O'Neill would block the deal IF the right money can be agreed. We still have the great summer buys of Richard Dunne and James Collins plus former Baggies boy Curtis Davies to return in January following his shoulder injury.
The article says that the form of Madrid born Carlos should see him called up to the Spanish national side next year and that Real Madrid are having him watched.
Apparently Real Madrid are in the market for a new defender following the injury to 26-year-old Pepe who could be out for up to six months with anterior cruciate ligament damage.
