Consistency The Key To Sunderland Victory

Following hot on the heels of our surprise victory (for the first time in 26 years you know!) at Old Trafford last weekend, Martin O'Neill has called on the squad to show some consistency against Sunderland, and by all accounts not to slip into the belief that this will be an easy match in comparison.

We must maintain our focus and let the extraordinary confidence boost lead us to victory, and not lull us into a false sense of security.

Speaking on the Official Site ahead of tonights match, Monny said he was still absolutely delighted but would be far happier with another 3 points later today.

'I think the players are naturally bouyed by the win, Aston Villa's record has been pretty wretched for 25 years so this side have done something about it and I'm pretty pleased about that.'

There's no doubting that Monny and the players will have taken a huge boost from the win, especially keeping the clean sheet to boot, but it's nice to see that they appreciate the boost it has given fans and that although it was a victory against Man U it stands as something more than that at the same time.

Speaking about Sunderland specifically, Monny is pretty pleased with our record against them and sees no real reason why that would change tonight.

Sunderland will be out revenge no doubt after our penalty win over them in the fourth round of the Cup, not forgetting our victory 11 months ago, but let's be confident. It ain't going to happen and we have recent history with us.

'I'm sure if we thought about it (the recent record), that has been pretty good.'

3-0 anyone? Would make my night!

All the best lads, you've just made yourself favourites to be 4th after the win against ManU but it won't count for much if you lose to Sunderland. I hope one of us can crack the top four though.... good luck
