'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Verdict - Up Your Injury Time

Martin O'Neill was positively beaming after today's 1-0 victory over Manchester United, describing the effort by the players as nothing short of 'courageous'.

Speaking to the Official Site with a glass of Port and a Cigar the manager paid tribute to the belief and work ethic of the squad. Even the gracious in defeat Fergie commented how committed we were and how hard we worked!

'I am just absolutely delighted to have won the game.'

You and everyone else Martin!

As for the 26 year nonsense, he added:

'It has been a long time since the football club has won at Old Trafford. It wasn't easy but it was a really fine victory.'

Games at Old Trafford are never easy, but we deserved today and hell, everything was right for us. Yes ok we'll have the plastic Mancs on later talking about injury decimation, injury time, the ref cheated them, Rooney never dives, we should never have won blah blah blah.

Who cares - you can only beat what's put in front of you and today we beat it. Job done, argument over, anyone else going to laugh at the irony of Man U fans attacking a referee?

Well done Mart - well done the lads!

were they at there magnificent best, probably not, but we should take a lot of credit for that..1st half we attacked them well and caused them as many problems as they us, we score they hit the bar, our midfield look really fluent & gabby n emule workin hard up front..2nd half we were so well organised & defended superbly that contributed to some stray man u passes & poor crossin, as we continually frustrated the hell out of them..they had quality out there but so did we & tonight we showed it, displaying our many qualities when we get it right...I am one immensely proud villan tonight..well done boys & mr o'neill........

With this win, we should be playing more like this and scoring more goals. I think that we can break that top four and also the experts in Africa say that Aston Villa are in the title race!

How can we NOT be in the title race. Are Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool in the title race (well 2 of them are)? Have we beat all of those teams? Yes. so therefore we are 100% in the title race.

Yup, if you are in reach of the top, you have to be in the race surely? Not going to get carried away but we do have more strength in depth and Jan might (doubt it, think it will be quiet) bring in some others to help complete the jigsaw)

We have (jointly) the least defeats in the league at the moment. I'm liking that stat.

my head still hurts. was in Beijing and had to find an all-night bar (1.30am kick-off there) where I found another Villa fan and a few glory-hunters to wind up. the evening started well with Spurs losing and ended magnificently with a bottle of champagne. worth every penny and every aspirin consumed after.

It should be taken out of the Ref's hands and passed onto the nearest drunken basward from Scotland. The truth is Ferguson is not used to a level playingfield.
