Curtis Davies Due For January Return - Wilf Not :(

Martin O'Neill says the reports that Villa defender Curtis Davies has had a set back in his bid to recover from shoulder surgery but admits poor old Wilfred Bouma has suffered yet another set back.

The Villa boss told www.avfc.co.uk 'Curtis is doing very well. He will always be ahead of schedule - whatever time frame you give him - that's just Curtis.' He says no matter what is said, Curtis is not behind schedule and things are in the hands of his specialist adding 'I reckon, with a fair wind, we are looking at January time.'

On Wilf's toe... 'Wilfred had a bit of a set-back. In terms of the ankle injury he sustained just over a year ago, he's fine. Everything is good with that. He actually has one of those turf toes - he stubbed it - and that's causing him a lot of pain at the moment. It looks like we might need to immobilise that for a week or two. So just when it looked as if he was on track, he suffers a separate injury - a set-back for him. It's been a frustrating time for him over the past few months.'

Meanwhile David Bevan has joined Solihull Moors on a month's loan. www.avfc.co.uk

I have said this before but Wilf will never play for Villa again. A stubbed toe keeps him out for several more weeks, come on boys some one is taking the micky here. Its sad to say but the spoof article before the season started wher Wilf's come back is continually being 4 weeks time is looking true. By May next year he will have been nearly 2 years out of the game and never be the same player he was.

I think kevin48 is right, were never gonna see him play again. I think thats why we signed Warnock. Can't wait to see Davies playing again. Its going to add so much competition to our defence.

If not the last we've most certainly seen the best of freddie. Cant wait for Curtis to get back fit, I think thats a real good lot of centre halves we have and will provide great competition & will create better individual performances & consistency.

Fortunately for us Warnock is lookin every bit a very good left back..In my opinion anyway.
