Shorey A Permanent Deal Says Davies

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has said that the club will be attempting to extend Nicky Shorey's loan spell, or better still turn it into a permanent deal in January.

Speaking to Sporting Life Davies said that although the loan is set to run until January 2nd, he would be very interested in securing the left back's service on a permanent basis:

'We've signed him for 28 days and after that point we'll try and sit down and negotiate with Aston Villa with regards to extending the loan or, fingers crossed, trying to conclude a permanent deal.'

To be honest it makes sense, he's not going to be anything but a bit part at Villa in the future. It's just been one of those things, it hasn't worked out and becoming one of many forgotten men under O'Neill that's not likely to change in the future and I certainly don't think Shorey will be interested in a career that consists of second string appearances in Cups.

Probably is the best thing for the lad. He could of been great for Villa but it just never worked out for him. Whatever happens, I wish him the best of luck.

has his moments, but in the same way Luke Moore had his moments.

That would be a great buy for Forest, but I think Shorey deservers to be playing in the Premier League. I really see him as a Portsmouth player
