'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Reo-Conquered

Martin O'Neill has revealed that Nigel Reo-Coker departed the pitch with a niggling ankle injury in our draw against Spurs.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail O'Neill admitted that Ash Young had to inform him that Coker had a sore ankle and would be unable to carry on.

Apparently the ankle was slightly swollen at half time but it was thought he'd be able to battle on and sadly it wasn't to be.

Reo hasn't had the best of seasons so far with Villa, but after the previous 'contretemps' O'Neill was more than pleased with his application and the way he worked to get back into the team, and said of his performance:

'I thought he did fine for us. We'll see what he's like.'

Coker is a doubt for the Pompey clash, so it's likely we'll see Delph partnering Petrov again. I doubt we'll see the return to 451.

It would be stupid to risk Delph at this level at this stage in this tournament. Id put our strongest team out and then it's one more hurdle before Wembley.

I agree with leelindsay, they have a new manager and hes a good manager we cant be taking any chances the only change that i would make was give Guzan another chance for his porformence and start Downing. I would actually like Heskey to start this game i think he could make an impact

Think you're wrong if you think Delph would weaken the side

Delph has years ahead of him, the one thing our lot do well I think is introducing the kids slowly but surely.

I can see him starting Sidwell and then should the game be going our way bring in Delph/Downing.

yep Coker hurt himself with his first and only tackle of the game , spend the rest of the game chasing shadows
