Frustrated Shorey Wants Out Of Villa

Well, bit surprised at the lack of transfer talk so far, we are usually seeing the made up, sorry the well researched transfer talk reports hotting up by now!

Only one I can see is one that was bound to appear really. Nicky Shorey, in www.mirrorfootball.co.uk report, will look for a new club in January apparently.

They quote the 28-year-old fullback, currently on loan at Forest, as 'extremely frustrated' by his time at Villa.

'I’ve gone from playing every week and being called up to England to this. It’s extremely frustrating but the manager makes his decision. He makes that decision for whatever reason. And it doesn’t matter what you do, sometimes you don’t get that opportunity.'

hardly a shock hers is it. I thought he was going to be very good for you based on what I saw of him for Reading. What went wrong?

He was failry solid for us, but O'Neill obviously doesn't rate him. He's a bit light weight at times and Warnock has been a lot better than Shorey since he signed.

Sadly too short and too slow, another one of MON's poor signings

"And it doesn’t matter what you do, sometimes you don’t get that opportunity." Too right Nicky. And sometimes you get the opportunity no matter how ***** poor you are. Ask Petrov.

yeah, a poor signing...... along with Collins, Dunne, Warnock, Young, Young, Carew, Reo-Coker, Friedel, Guzan, Milner, Beye, Cuellar. But let's look for the negatives.... Perhaps he should take a leaf out of Petrov's book and knuckle down and shut his mouth....or at least show some guts and try to EARN the right to play. He wsn't expensive.....to think we could have paid twice as much for Kyle Naughton (he's played ten minutes of football in the premier league for Spurs). Shorey was extremely fortunate to get into an England squad that was in dire need of left sided defenders and for a very short time under a very poor manager (McClaren). He was bought as a stop-gap while Freddie recovered/because we couldn't get Warnock at the time.... Decent back-up but nothing more - he'll thrive at a lower level - just as McCann, Samuel, Ridgewell, Davis, Hughes all have...

Well said GM. I've been impressed with Nicky's work going forward, but he does not appear to be that strong defensively, which is his primary role.

His attitude was summed up for me during the on/off loan move to Portsmouth saga. Didn't go because he wasn't guaranteed to be the starting left-back.....
