John Carew - Confidence Is High

The off pitch talk has started ahead of the massive clash with Spurs this weekend.

A great deal can be seen from this result I think, as both clubs are similar size, similar ambitions and both clubs have spent a large pot of gold to try to push the top four and to break the boring stranglehold of the last 10 odd years.

Big John Carew who HAS to be on his game this weekend, no passengers required v Spurs thanks, told the official site:

'We know we have a team good enough to compete for fourth place and there is no reason why we should be scared of Tottenham or the likes of teams like Manchester City. I think we have proved we can compete with them.'

carew

He thinks we are in with a chance this season as we have strenth in depth and says that they have to remain confident throughout the campaign. Confident yes, also interested EVERY game Big John.

'Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham all want to be up there and we have to believe we are good enough to compete with them. 'I don't think there is any reason why we can't be. We will certainly be having a go at it.'

Get in there JC, kick the hell out of this season, show us the unstoppable JC not the disappearing one!?

av-jc-86 Gomes is currently one of the best keepers around, he is pulling off top class saves everyweek, his performance against sunderland a couple of weeks ago was amazing, i think its lennon and defoe you should be worried about, i cant see you nulifying our attacking players for 90mins, so it will boil down to who can score more!

I think that Carew will be up for this game,, pyscial strength will win us the game and if Carew and the rest of the team perform like they did against Bolton we stand a very good chance of beating them and grabbing that fourth spot

av-jc-86, it is very obviously apparent that you have not watched Gomes play for a year or so. yes he did have a Dodgy start in the Beginning of last season but since then he has been word class. I would not swap him with any other keeper in the league not even Shay Given.

I have to admit you can say this about the premier league - nearly each and every goalkeeper in the league is world class! Barring only a couple of exceptions, look at this list! Van-Der-Saar, Ceck, Reina, Friedel, Gomes, Jaskerleinen, James, Foster, Shwartzer, Given etc etc etc the list is long!

I agree with lillywhite. Its only Defoe and Lennon to worry about. Warnock i feel can do a good job with Lennon but Defoes pace could be a problem for Dunny/Carlos. Big John and Gabby HAVE to score more
