Big Boost For Emile

Big Boost For Emile

Martin O'Neill believes Heskey's performance and goal today will give the striker a big confidence boost.

Commenting on the official site following today's match against a fellow claret and blues, Monny mentioned the fact that Heskey is often seen as the provider in squads but that being a centre forward it's always important that he picks up his own share of the goals.

'He has the reputation for being a provider, but if you are a centre-forward you have to get your quota of goals.'

O'Neill added that he thought Heskey played 'very well' during his weekly 11 minutes on the pitch and I do agree.

He was far more involved in those 11 minutes than he has been at any other point this season when on the pitch. He was chasing around and trying to get involved which was a welcome boost after another average performance by Carew.

However, whether Heskey looked good because in a direct comparison with Carew today Doris the Tea lady would've been an improvement or whether it was because it was a hugely improved performance I'd probably need to see the match again.

"He has the reputation for being a provider ..." I must be missing something. I mean is this guy even reaching 5/6 assists in a season?

Give him the benefit of the doubt and give him 12 mins next week! If he scores next week again in 12 mins, then give him a full 30 mins :-)
