Defence Aim To Keep Brad Quiet

Carlos Cuellar is loving not hearing about Brad Friedel's heroics after a game thesedays, to him it's proof the back 4 are doing their jobs.

Speaking on the official site, Carlos said that the less newspapers talk about Friedel and the less he's asked for interviews after a match means the back 4 have played well, have limited the oppo's chances and ultimately given Brad a nice quiet game.

'Brad is fantastic but he rarely gets mentioned after the game. Let's keep it that way. If he's not getting mentioned it means we are doing our defensive jobs properly.'

It's difficult not to agree with the logic nor see where Carlos is coming from here.

In plenty of days gone by most of the talk was about Friedel, him keeping us in the match and so on - but that hasn't happened for a while.

Not that he's doing anything different in reality, if anything since Collins and Dunne arrived on the scene Friedel has looked more composed, more immense and far happier between the sticks again, in a way he hasn't since the injury to Laursen all those many moons ago.

Friedel is as reliable as ever, but as Carlos says with the defence doing their job in front of him when he does need to pull of a save now, we're all still thinking about the last tackle somebody put in.

Cuellar and Dunne or Collins and Dunne? Collins' injury is unfortunate but would you break up the Cuellar / Dunne partnership after Bolton. Dropping either Cuellar or Luke Young would be bloody harsh on MON's behalf.
