Nigel Hokey-Cokey Wanted By The Three B's

Not been much in the way of transfer gossip recently, only snippet I've seen this week is today in the Daily Star.

They claim that Nigel Hokey-Cokey is in demand and that the 3 b's will fight it out for a £5million winter transfer window move.

3 b's being Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers and Blues.

The report says that despite burying the hatchet with Martin O'Neill (it doesn't state where the hatchet has been buried by the way) the Villa midfielder will still look to move to gain regular first team football.

The report also says that MON might cash in on the 25-year-old as he could leave on a free the season after when his contract expires.

Must admit I'd not be surprised to see him move but I'd think he'll be looking to move South as from what I can gather, he misses the bright lights of London too much, so that would rule out Bolton and Blackburn surely?!

Be interesting to see who starts next Saturday against Burnley. After being part of the 5-1 win over Bolton, surely NRC can't be dropped straight back out of the team to fit in club captain Stiliyan Petrov?

A previous poll asked that very question, most seemed to want to keep Hokey-Cokey in the team:

Drop Sidwell and replace with Petrov 62%
Make Petrov wait for his chance 28%
Drop NRC and replace with Petrov 7%
Unsure 3%

Forum thread: So what does MON do with NRC when Petrov returns?

the thing I can't understand is the amount of effort that went into signing him in the first place!!..then to play him outa position for much of his time here!!

Drop Petrov for Reo-Coker & put Craig Gardner (or Delph @ a push) alongside him if MO'N insists on a 4-4-2. Otherwise a 4-5-1 with Gardner & Delph. That way, we could have a very combative, full English midfield with a good few amount of goals in them.

With all due respect it came from the Daily Star with absolutely zero quotes or sources. Lazy journalism from the gutter press during an international week. Some hack is sitting at his desk saying to himself "hmmm what's an easy rumor I can create....? I know, Reo-Coker had a bust up with MON a few weeks back...."

Quite news day gmvillan, gets the debate going if nothing else. There will be much much more as we move towards December and the ever closening (is that even a word) transfer window. Brace yourselves! Good for business though!

Sooner the useless twonk leaves the better, he is holding Delph and some other talented youngsters back( that goes for Petrov and Sidwell too). At 25 he is hardly going to develop into Frank Lampard is he! laugh all you want but that is the standard of midfield player we need to meet our goal of CL , top 4 call it what you will.

I think that we paid to much for Reo-Coker 7.5 million is jst to much and you would expect a player with that sort of price tag to be playing more then he is. I think that Petrov will actually start on the bench since it is against Burnley

Does everyone notice we dont play Reo Coker and put Heskey in and we lose and draw games ? We drop heskey and play Reo Coker and we win games. The lad is one of the best tacklers in the game, and he played really well against Bolton, the problem he has had is he has been played out of positon so much, he comes here and expects to play Defensive midfield and instead he plays a position that he doenst like, the lad is a captain a natural leader of course he will have strong opinions and not agree with some things, but MON has forgiven him and now you will see the best of Reo Coker because he is a fighter, and now he will want to prove everyone wrong, the bad part of hes game is the passing and even that is getting a lot better, we have lost Laursen, Barry, Mellberg and Davies isnt in the team, we dont have many natural leaders and Reo Coker is still young and can play in a Villa shirt for the next 8 years or so.

I agree Villa 4 Ere, I think Coker is a vital part of the team, and largeley under-rated. He does everything Sidwell does & more, that's why i'd rather see him get his chance alongside Petrov in midfield

Droping Petrov is just a foolish notion. However dropping Heskey for Big Nige makes perfect sense. As for sidwell - sell him he is pap.
