Unoial Villa News...

The words hog and wash spring to mind? It has been whispered a few times, must admit I was up in Liverpool last weekend and the taxi drivers were all full of it. Personally, I just can't see it. See what? Martin O'Neill to Liverpool when the fat Spanish waiter is sacked. For one thing, can Liverpool afford to pay off Rafa? Very much doubt it. For another, why would MON go to a club in so much debt and seemingly in turmoil with the fans at odds with the owners and the owners at odds with the owners?!?! Full article: Martin O'Neill To Manage Liverpool? Hogwash!

Three Villans have been called up for the rubbish friendly this Saturday but Gabby misses out. Details: Three Villans In England Squad - Gabby Misses Out

Official site match report:

Man of the match v Bolton? John Carew by a landslide! Full results: Villa's Man of the Match v Bolton Wanderers

John Carew has said that Milner should be on the plane for the World Cup after being our most consistent performer this season. Full quotes: Big John On Little Milly

Whilst praising the big man after his performance today, Monny has called for far more consistency from 'he who is bigger than me and you'. Full quotes: MON Calls For Carew Consistency

Martin O'Neill has told the official site that the international break will give James Collins time to recover from his groin injury. He also says Heskey's injury isn't a long term thing. He said: 'Emile came off at half-time during the West Ham game with a back problem and James saw the game through but had a scan on his groin afterwards. It showed something and it was particularly sore. We think the break - for a couple of weeks - has come at a decent time for James. And we'll see where we are after.' Both players have been omitted from their international team squads.

Villa drew 3-3 with Blues reserves: stats

The weekend may be over but this column is still great! Something For The Weekend (259)

Fieldy: Nathan Delfouneso has today signed a new contract that will keep him at B6 until 2012. The two year extension delighted Martin O'Neill who waxed lyrical on the official site about the youngster: 'I couldn't be more pleased. He is a great talent and has real natural ability. He is a great, great talent and I am absolutely delighted to have him here.' Full quotes: Click Here

MON says he holds no grudges with Nigel Hokey-Cokey and felt it was right to make him captain on Saturday v Bolton. Interesting question in our latest poll though, what happens to him next game when Petrov returns? Full article: MON - No Grudges With The Hokey Cokey

Vital Lincoln: Despite Eric Lichaj returning to Aston Villa after his Morecambe red, Chris Sutton wants him back at the end of his 3 week ban. This will ensure he has served the one month break between loan spells and allow us to keep him for a further 93 days. Eric 'The Viking' Lichaj Return On Cards

Man of the match v West Ham: 48% voted 'What A Stupid Question' The first player to be singled out was Warnock with 15% and Stiliyan Petrov just behind with 12%. The left: Beye 7% Collins 3% A. Young 3% Reo-Coker 2% L. Young 2% Friedel 2% Agbonlahor 2% Sidwell 1% Dunne 1% Carew 1% Heskey 1%

Well here is some good news, Stewart Downing could be playing before the year is out. Martin O'Neill told the official site that the summer buy from Middlesbrough saw the specialist in the week and was 'very encouraged'. Apparently he is now able to be mixing it up in training. Full article: Downing Set To Play Before Year End?

Why is it when I get to this stage of the Villa Times I get the feeling I'm talking to myself? Hello? Helloooooo? Is anyone there? Oh bananas, at least I'm enjoying myself!

Thought you might have included a PS complimenting S H Alliance on the favour they did us at Anfield. For only the second time in my life I was hoping they would win (the first was against Citeh last week).
