MON - No Grudges With The Hokey Cokey

Martin O'Neill has put to bed the row with Nigel Hokey-Cokey further illustrated by the fact he made the player captain on Saturday v Bolton in the absence of Stiliyan Petrov.

MON told the official site that he felt it was right to give him the captain's armband explaining: 'I just felt that if he was going into the side he might as well burden himself with extra responsibility as captain as well too. And I thought he acquitted himself very well.'

Adding, 'I am too old to be holding grudges. For the benefit of the team, it's not that important. Myself and Nigel had a bit of a spat but it's been over and done with for quite some time.'

He says that is that and all he wants from players is for them to 'come in and give everything for the football club.'

Fair enough!

Given me an idea for the next poll... gulp, here we go! So, should Nigel Hokey-Cokey now be dropped in the next game to make way for Stiliyan Petrov who will be back from suspension? I remember MON saying a few times that if you get your place and play well you will keep it, will that follow through for NRC?

I've only seen the Sky extended highlights but I thought Hokey-Cokey and Sidwell make a good partnership, not the classiest of players but the work rate and ability to break down play is great. The amount of times I saw NRC and Sidwell tracking back, breaking up play and putting tackles in was fantastic

I absolutely take my hat off to Mr O'Neill. The easy thing to do would have been to just get rid. But NRC is quality and we don't want to lose quality. Well done Mr O'Neill. A little faith is restored, though we better sign a forward (not a Heskey) at Christmas.

I'd like to see NRC stay where he is with Petrov. Sidwell has been dissapointing (last game aside), and i think NRC would be hard done by to become the hit man!

surely he won't change a team who won 5-1?

You would hope he wouldn't change a winning team but we know that MoN has his favourites and I am not sure that NRC or Luke Young are up there.

Is MON going to keep the team captain on the bench? Or is he going to strip him of the captaincy? Neither is very likely, unfortunately.

Id like to see NRC and Petrov play together with Delph coming on as sub later on . Delph was a crowd favourite at Leeds and was a game winner but doesn't seem to get a chance here .
