'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Monny Praises Masterful Carlos

Martin O'Neill woke this morning with a smile on his face and said to himself 'well you know, I haven't praised that wee Spaniard yet'.

Be fair, I can't impersonate Monny's voice, I don't stand a chance when I'm only typing - just use a bit of imagination please, it's Sunday and yesterday's celebrations are still with me. Hic.

Speaking on the official site the day after our thumping 5-1 victory over Bolton, Monny called Carlos' performance in the game 'masterful' and was overjoyed with his involvement at both ends of the pitch.

'I thought Carlos played brilliantly. He was back in the position that suits him best.'

It was a nice day for Carlos, back at centre half and bagging his first ever Villa goal, but the praise didn't stop there.

Monny appreciates the fact that right back isn't exactly where Carlos saw his Premiership career heading, but O'Neill has been very pleased with how he's slotted in and done a job for the team regardless.

'Saying that, he has done excellently for us at right-back. James and Richard have arrived and slotted into his normal position so he has moved to full-back for us.'

Be nice to see Carlos alongside Collins now, but for the first time in a long time we have some real options in defence and somebody is going to be unhappy.

Carlos doesn't deserve to be dropped now, we all saw how we missed Collins, and with Luke back in contention he has to be a shoe in at right back. So who misses out next match?

Glad to see Carlos in his proper position. All of our players seemed more comfortable. Luke Young was very good defensively at in attack. We have missed him. A great balance to the squad. Just hope we get some good news on Bouma!!

Where is Bouma? Luke is excellent at right back, we should leave him there the balance is great, does anyone remember worrying about the last transfer window now?!!

Reading between the lines here if I was Luke Young I would be getting myself prepared for the bench next game.

Stulinney, I've just read one of your comments about Dunne on another site. "Dunne's a fat loser who's cost us goals"? So why do the majority think he's been excellent for us?
