So are we Monny! It's no great surprise to hear the manager praise the players after today's game is it really.
Speaking on the official site after our 5-1 thumping of Bolton Wanderers, Monny was delighted with the strike force and our overall performance.
Monny also echoed what a lot of us have been saying for a while, once the side clicked (irrespective of why we weren't) we'd shown enough flashes against the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea for us to really dominate a side.
The frustrating element has seen us do well in games we could expect to lose, yet then look like complete amatuers in games we should by rights both dominate and look good in.
Today the wind was blowing perfectly, the grass was lush, and our team gave the performance we have been crying out for and desperately wanting.
'I think we had been threatening a performance like that - in terms of goals - for some time. It was particularly pleasing.
'The front two were dangerous. I thought Gabby and John were too strong for them. But I thought Ashley and James played very fluidly too.'
Monny also admitted he was worried ahead of the game given the spirit within the camp after the West Ham match and he was really hoping to see them bounce back with some style today.
'I was concerned about the game beforehand. We were really down after the West Ham defeat.
'That was my only concern - about the energy - coming on the back of the disappointment of West Ham too. But the players played very brightly. The crowd were enthused and stayed with them.'
Bounce back in style they certainly did. IF we can keep this level of performance, application and determination we know we'd be in for a good season.
The team simply have to maintain this standard. Results won't always go our way, but if we are playing well and with confidence our chances are far improved.![]()
