Tough Quarter Final Test

Monny has described our away draw against Portsmouth in the quarter finals of the Carling Cup as a 'really tough test'.

There are no doubts that the tie is the easiest one we could've been given, but Pompey are slowly finding their form and won't role over as they will be looking at the Cup as a possible success in what otherwise is likely to be a damp squib of a season.

Speaking on the official site, Monny admitted he would have been much happier with a home tie:

'I think it's a difficult tie for us. It would have been terrific if we'd been at home - it really would.

'Portsmouth won comfortably this afternoon so maybe their revival has started. It'll be tough but we're in there fighting.'

We have no real reason to worry about progression, but like so much relating to Villa games it ultimately depends on whether or not we turn up and whether we play properly.

We've probably played our 'get out of jail free' card about three times this season, how nice would it be to get through to the semi's on the back of a sterling performance.

How would he have assessed a draw against Arsenal, manyoo or CSKA? Tough is playing in the latter rounds of any competition.

Tr1dent, I don't think so, he has had strong sides out in the last two cup games, so I suspect he will continue to do so. I think he has learnt from Moscow, that ringing too many changes does no-one any good. I think Guzan will play and maybe one or two off the bench but other than that it will be a strong side. I hoped we would get Pompey, nice draw for us, but they are just starting to find some form.
