Sunderland Match Coverage And Links

Sunderland match coverage and links:

Martin O'Neill told the official site 'Ask any manager at all, winning a trophy would be fantastic. But to dream about winning one now in the last week of October would be exactly that - a dream. The cup is important. It is a competition we'd like to do well in, something that has eluded us in recent years. Obviously like most other Premier League sides we would love to get a proper run in it.'

Martin O'Neill also told the official site that the top four teams will take the Carling Cup seriously. Full details: Click Here

Steve Bruce is gunning for a win tonight, he told The Echo : 'I'm glad we're in action so quickly after the Birmingham game because that's a match we want to get out of systems as quickly as possible. We were dreadful and it was the sort of performance that I'd most feared. You can get by sometimes with one or two players not turning up in a game but when seven or eight are off their game, you're going to be in big trouble. That's what happened to us at the weekend and now it's up to us to put it right.'

MON on Steve Bruce on the Villa's official site. 'I said it some time ago, that I think the job he did at Birmingham was fantastic. To fight back that year after they had been relegated was particularly good, because I think that is exceptionally difficult: www.avfc.co.uk

Well this will be a short and sweet article, very sweet. Just read on the Sunderland Official site SAFC.com that their leading scorer Darren Bent is out of the Carling Cup clash. Full details: Darren Bent OUT For Villa Clash.. HURRAH!

Just seen the poll > I'd expect to get to the quarters. And then probably get knocked out by manyoo... But until then, Sunderland is a hard tie. Expecting a gritty game
