Gary Gardner Signs Professional Contract

Gary Gardner, brother of Craig, has signed his first professional contract with the Villa today.

You already know Gary will have a good career, not only is he a very talented lad but he's also got 'footballers lingo' mastered as his youthful age.

Describing his feelings on signing the contract, Gary was 'over the moon' with the 2 year contract and he also said his big brother had been a huge inspiration to him.

Speaking on the official site he said:

'I am absolutely delighted - over the moon. It's so good to get it all sorted.

'Now it's up to me to keep working hard in training and reserve matches and hope to catch the gaffer's eye.

'This is, without doubt, the best moment of my career so far. It is such a great club and I love being here. I have been here for 10 years and it's great to continue that association.

'My family is so proud of me and I'm thrilled to sign the contract. Craig is pleased for me and he's been a big inspiration in my career so far.'

Gary has all the talent needed to make himself a household name in the future, he just had to make sure he backs that up with solid work now. Those who follow the reserves have been raving about him for a while, and he's very highly thought of by the youth coaches.

If he keeps developing how he has done, it's very possible we'll see a bit more of him come next seasons pre season games.

Anyone else think that we could unearth some real gems from this influx of youth players? The list is growing by the month. Fonz, Clark, Licah, Albrighton, Bannan, Lowry, (Parish?) and now Gardner. If 2 or 3 out of these live up to the hype it will be another job well done for the academy coaches. Im going with Albrighton, Lichah and the Fonz (If they actually get the chance) to make a major impression over the next few years.
