Delight At Coming From Behind

Delight At Coming From Behind

Martin O'Neill was beaming with delight after seeing us come from a goal behind today to secure all three points against Chelsea.

I think most of us would've more than taken a point before the match started and after the first 20 minutes it was beginning to look like even a point would be beyond us.

Two set pieces later, two headers from commanding, and ever growing in stature centre halves reversed all that though.

Speaking on the official site after the match, Monny said:

'I am absolutely delighted. I thought we played brilliantly in the first half and obviously had to defend strongly in the second half.

'Chelsea came at us after the break but we saw it through in the end. They had a 15 minute period - it was tough for us. But my overall view is that we were splendid.'

s for praising the players, when you pull a result like this out of the hat it's hard to single out individuals, but of course Collins and Dunne need special mentions, and Monny was also delighted with the reaction of Friedel after his early mistake.

'Our defenders are terrific players. Collins is very, very underrated. Dunne has been a really good player for a long, long time in this Premier League. But Collins is underrated. His performances for us have been fantastic.'

Adding:

'Brad came back brilliantly after his error. He didn't dwell on it. He didn't get an opportunity within two or three minutes to rectify it either so that would have been playing on his mind.'

You know folks, we might not be there yet, but maybe, just maybe we are beginning to click?

Well Done. You really showed those Arrogant chavs. although i dont admire your brand of football, i really think you guys are very Resilient team. With liverpool also loosing today, you, Us and city have a really good chance of breaking into the top 4. lets hope one of us achieve it

Arrogant, Yid? Save your judgement for some other day. Over on the Chelsea forum you'll read a number of comments crediting Villa for their performance. Villa were far more efficient than us today, and when it mattered most. It's a tough loss to digest because I feel we were pretty good and had several chances to win it. Thankfully it's a long season.

Great result. Well happy. Wait till we've got Luke, Bouma and Downing to choose from also. Collins, Dunne (the Gun) and Warnock are inspired signings. Think we can beat any team and will probably beat most. Bring it on.
