Fieldy: James Milly The Milner believes that Heskey's worries over England could help push Villa into Europe again and spur on Gabby to boot. Heskey Could Serve A Purpose

Carlos Cuellar is delighted to be part of Villa's new-look defensive outfit but thinks it faces its biggest test yet this weekend. He said: 'They have Drogba and Anelka up front - two world-class strikers. A lot of people suggested they couldn't play together but they are in great form as a partnership now.' Full article on official site: www.avfc.co.uk

Our poll results for the question whether Emile Heskey should be played for Villa + links to the other articles on the Heskey 'situation' if indeed there is a 'situation' or even a downgraded and no '' situation. Full article and links: 70% Say Sell Heskey In January!

And as so often happens, the player has now said he hasn't been hinting at wanting to leave and was 'misquoted'. Fieldy: Emile Heskey has spoken out for the first time since the recent 'I'll consider quitting' articles that aired whilst he was away on international duty. Details: Heskey Rubbishes Quit Coverage

An interview with Merlin from Vital Chelsea ahead of this weekends clash: Merlin Weaves His Magic - Chelsea Fan Interview

Colin Davies in his best song/video yet in my humble opinion! Colin Davies - Claret & Blue Good For You!

Bit of a quiet news day yesterday so I put up a list of great quotes from footballers including 'I'd like to play for an Italian club, like Barcelona.' Mark Draper! Full article: Who Said Footballers Weren't Intelligent?

Fieldy: Steve Sidwell now believes he's settled in at B6 and he believes he's playing his best football since joining us. Most fans wouldn't disagree with that. However playing his best football since joining us is still a fair way off the Stevie Sidwell we saw destroy us when he was playing for Reading. Now that's the form we want! Full article and quotes: Settled Sidwell

An update on the General Krulak feedback thread: General Krulak Update Thread Part 5

Fieldy (done before the England v Belarus game obviously): Ashley Young has backed Gabby to make the most of his England opportunity following his recall to the squad, and potential start against Belarus tonight. You can't fault the young winger for casting a wistful look at any England news lately given his omittance from the squad, but it's understandable given his form. If this is the kick he needs then I'm not going to argue if we see the flying Young again complete with accurate crosses to boot. Anyhoo, whilst on an extended break given the international commitments of others, Young has said he believes that Gabby is slowly turning into a more rounded centre half, especially given the manner of his goal tally so far this season and he fully expects him to take any chance to impress that Capello might now hand him. Full quotes: Young Belief In Gabby

Murph: Luke Young and Wilf Bouma both continued their progress towards first team action in a 3-2 'behind closed doors' victory against Crewe Alex. Full details: Villa de-rail Crewe in Closed Doors Friendly

Murph: Elliot Parish is 'a find for us' according to England U20 coach Brian Eastwick. Parish, who has featured sporadically for the Aston Villa reserve side and was a named squad member in the Peace Cup tournament acquitted himself well as the starting goalkeeper for the U-20 World Cup, even showing versatility as a make-shift striker (which I`m sure MON will love!) Full article: Parish News

Fieldy: Craig Gardner has tipped his brother, Gary, to confuse the fans in the near future and become a regular in the match day squad. Speaking to the Sunday Mercury following their reserve stint last week, Craig was full of praise for his younger sibling, who if you remember set up Gardner Snr for our equiliser against Wolves! Full quotes: Is That A Gardner I See Before Me?

Fieldy answered some questions for Vital England on what Birmingham would have to offer the World Cup should we get it. What Birmingham Has To Offer

Viz thought for the day: I would just like to say a big thank you to all those wonderful young people who stand on motorway slip roads (and in any weather) holding up boards telling us motorists where they lead to.
