Villa de-rail Crewe in Closed Doors Friendly

Luke Young and Wilf Bouma both continued their progress towards first team action in a 3-2 "behind closed doors" victory against Crewe Alex.

In a game which, quite frankly, I can`t work out how it was behind closed doors given the somewhat open air nature of a football pitch, Craig Gardner and Andreas Weimann were the goalscoring heroes at Bodymoor Heath against a Crewe side that featured a couple of their own first teamers returning from injury and a trialist keeper, their 5th senior goalkeeper this season already!

Reserve Team manager Kevin McDonald had this to say on avfc.co.uk:

It was a good test for the lads and a good workout. Crewe are a good side who like to pass it - they don't just kick it - so it made for a good football match."
