OH NO... Heskey Might Look To Leave!

Well, this morning is a dark dark day in the history of Aston Villa. I'm typing this article trying to hold back the tears, in fact, that is a lie, I've been weeping since reading the quotes from our much lauded and top striker Emile Heskey.

Sorry to bring you such devastating news but our Holte End hero might consider his future in January and could ..... sorry, I had to take a break as I couldn't see what I was typing through such moistened eyes.... look to leave.

PLEASE DON'T GO EMILE. What would we do without the big man's goals?

The 31-year-old who has started as many England games as he has Villa games this season said:

'I will have to sit down and think about my next move. I don't know whether I can get a World Cup place if I'm not playing for Villa.'

He adds, 'I'm happy to be playing for England and, obviously, not playing at club level is difficult. It's something I will have to look at when I get back and try to address it.'

I'm old fashioned, or maybe just old. Strikers used to have to score goals, no scrub that, strikers at least need to SHOOT the blinking ball goal wise (between the goal posts Emile) and if you don't do your job for your club, you don't get to play at international level and lets face it, Emile has not does his job since coming to Villa. At the start of this season he admitted he hadn't settled in last season following his move from Wigan. For goodness sake, how difficult can it be, it isn't as if he was a foreign player still learning the language and culture.

2 goals in 12 games Emile, THAT is why you aren't in the team. Start scoring, hey presto, you don't get left out. Not rocket science is it? Close the door on the way out!

Steve Bruce and Fabio Capello on Heskey. The Mystery Of Emile Heskey!

Our latest poll asks whether Heskey should be being played or not.

Mr O'Neill's mistakes will return to haunt us later this season. Remind me, did we buy any strikers in the summer? With emule gone, poor Gabby will be burned out by Christmas at this rate. I'm not sure John Carew will ever return to full fitness - he's had a long time to do so.... Sorry, but I'm just heavily disappointed by lack of vision by our main man to see that we're light up front. Even worse (or would it be better all round?) if Heskey leaves.

Heskey is one of the best in the world at playing the ball down to his strike partner, unfortunately, we don't have that sort of player beside him, Gabby is better on his own as I don't think he can read the flick on's etc, and Carew is to big to be the little man in a partnership with Heskey, if Bent, Owen or Defoe were at the club then I could see a point to Heskey, as it is, there is no reason to have him, as we don't use him to his strengths and instead he just looks off the pace playing alongside Young and Gabby. I do genuinely believe him to be a top player, but I just don't think he is suited to our style.

Brilliant news! If MO'N insists on that sort of player I'd take Kevin Davies or have Carlton bk. (Is it true James Collins started out as a striker years ago?) I don't care if we don't get a penny for Heskey. Just get rid. Having him in our team cost us Champions League & it's like he's constantly trying to cost us games with his cameo's. His recent attitude & threatening to leave unless he gets games should get him dropped from the squad. (Take a look at Craig Gardner & his attitude Emile!) ... After the Pompey debut, How did it go so wrong?

I have to agree with YJ. He just doesn't fit into our system, none of our forwards suit his style of play, nor do we have any central midfielders who like to make late runs and support him. Shame, but I think it'll be best for everyone involved if he moves on. Maybe fat head at Sunderland will be interested.

When Downing is fit, put him on the wing and play Young off Heskey in the middle? Might work but then we are changing other players to fit one in. And the one we are fitting in does not seem that interested to me. PBAFC raises a good point though, who would want to buy him? What makes Heskey believe that he can simply change clubs and walk into a first team elsewhere? Maybe at a Stoke or Burnley - but do they have the budgets to pay him?

Its a case of who do you want in the starting 11, Gabby or Emile? They cannot play together that is plain to see, but given a straight choice, there will be only one winner, Heskey is what? 31? He cannot be considered the long term future, wheras Gabby is young and I would argue that its more beneficial for us to look at players that compliment Gabby's strengths than getting players that compliment Heskey's. If Defoe was here then we would have the best of both worlds (i.e. Heskey/Defoe partnership and Gabby as lone forward), but he isnt so its time for Heskey to go.

O'Neill seriously needs a new forward in Jan though. 100% top priority, Gabby gets injured then we could struggle. Alot resting on his shoulders, not fair if you ask me. And from previous seasons it wouldn't be unfair to suggest that Gabby won't be on this current form for the entire campaign.

I would like us to buy a new striker before getting rid, dalfonzzy isnt up to scratch yet and it would only take a wee bit of bad luck for us to be up **** creek. I would like to see him turn it around but I dont see it happening. I doubt the blues would even take him!!!

I've said it before & I'll say it again. I am convinced MON bought Heskey as bait to land Michael Owen. Everyone knows Owen thinks Heskey is the best striker he has played alongside. The plan might have just worked if it wasn't for those Pesky Mancs. :(

Can not BELIEVE how much Villa paid for him last January. Happy though... "Fat Head" loved him, but we were just fine without him. Even Mido was probably better.

I like Robbie Keane as a player (he has scored more in 1 Premier League game this season than Heskey has since January. Double in fact) but as a person I just can't stand him. It'll B hard cheering him on while doing that silly little roll. This summer we missed out on Sturridge, Owen & Bent. So I'd say Carlton Cole is the best bet 4 MO'N. or maybe he'll tempt Beattie?

he's not playing well for us because of articles like this. he is clearly a guy with fragile confidence and as such he needs villa fans to get behind him. you are not helping our club.

Adam, if O'Neill had wanted Owen, he could have had him. Owen wasn't holding out for a move to Man Ure. Not even he in his wildest dreams could Owen have hoped that they would come in for him. It would seem that O'Neill didn't want Owen - although I wouldn't be surprised if O'Neill really was interested in Owen, but failed to act decisively. And anyway, Owen is garbage, and has been for years. I would be amazed if he scored 8 league goals this season, despite playing in one of the most dominant sides in the league.

If Hesko cant work with Rooney who is one of the best readers of the game in England no-one can/will ever work with him. Hesko was lucky Owen was around to make him look good.

come on ric112 I can't be blamed for Heskey's career and goal to game ratio can I? Maybe I have a 'heroes' power to stop people scoring by keeping an internet site but no one let me know. Rubbish power though, I'd have rathered the ability to fly! I think fans have been behind him when he is on the pitch, there was no one more vocal than me v Man City when he was coming on v Man City... not my fault or any other fans fault that he then did nothing. His confidence might well be low, if he shot he might find that he could score and no Villa fan wouldn't be fully behind him. I don't think this one can be put squarely at my door, I do sort of get your drift but come on mate, he has always been average scoring wise and this has to be one of his worst spells apart from the awful (truly awful) season at Blues when they went down. Maybe look at the player, the wages he is on each week and the lack of a contribution to the point that MON has dropped him instead of pointing at some insignificant article on a site I'm quite quite sure he'll never read!

The Fear
Well said Fear, i think even Heskey took a shot at goal, made a run, took on a player rather that settling for a throw in, even if he failed doing it, fans would get behind him for trying. I can see us signing, doyle or kevin davies if he leave, but i think they would be bad signings. Even carlton cole would be a risk, its obvious he is only playing well coz of Zola's influence

If he could get the aggression back from when he headbutted the guy in the peace cup, and then use it wisely then he could be half a player, but the guy is a joke and his backside is taking up delfonso's place on the bench. HESKEY OUT !!!!

Whats happened to Dean Ashton? If he's fit by Jan id like MON to take a punt on him depsite his injury record. He'd be available for a knockdown price and is a quality target man if fit.

Disgusted. His cronies are all giving interviews on Skysports now. Fat Frank and Judas Barry are raving about what a quality player he is and how he is being hard done by to only have one start for us this season!!! Apparently he may have to leave. Who would want him?? Even the presenters are making out that he is a superstar and we are messing him around. Big difference from the truth: Can't score, Can't shoot, Can't dribble, Can't cross, Can't stay on his feet for more than 20 secs. Oh yeah, he makes life easy for Rooney and Owen. Well they don't play for us so he is in the wrong place. MON is gaining respect from me though by not playing him through the pain barrier like he did with Petrov. Heskey doesn't give a toss about Villa. Its all about him and playing for England. He should be trying to work harder and thats what he should be saying in the papers, " I need to impress the boss in training and when I get my compulsory 15-20 minutes at the end of every game"!!!!

oh no i dont want it to be true. If he leaves we might have to start using the young, eager, goal hungry lad known as the 'Fonz'. Wat is this club coming to when a lad who scores for fun in the Villa and England reserves may finally be given a chance
