Unoial Villa News...

Shane Lowry has been named in the Australian squad to play the Netherlands this weekend. Lowry decided recently that his future lay with the Aussies after originally playing for the Republic of Ireland U17 and U21's.

There are some more quotes - or maybe they are the same quotes just repeated...! - about the return of right-back Luke Young. MON says the player is close and should be ready after the international break. MON said: 'Luke is doing really fine. I would say by the time we come back after the international break he will just be about right. There is a reserve game coming up which he would probably would need but he is doing very well indeed. There are no ill-effects from the injury (he picked up a thigh injury in pre-season) and, psychologically, I think he is improving greatly since the death of his half-brother.'

Manchester City's visit is Villa Park's biggest game of the season so far - and it will be accompanied by the biggest programme in the club's history. The Villa News & Record has already increased in size to an all-time high of 76 pages, and that figure will rise to 84 for both the City game and the following home fixture against Chelsea. Sali, Salifou says that Togo can still win their qualifying group for the World Cup. He said on BBC Sport: 'I still believe and hope that Togo can win the group. I think that Togo will finish first, Cameroon second, Gabon third and Morocco fourth.'

The date for West Ham United v Villa at Upton Park has been set for Wednesday November 4th with a 7:45pm kick off. The original date was postponed due to our European adventures!

Gabby Agbonlahor, James Milner and Emile Heskey (yeah, I know!) are all in the England squad. Ashley Young however, hasn't made the cut. Full details and squad: Trinity Of Villans In England Squad

Reports at the weekend suggested Randy Lerner was looking for investors in the Far East. I was able to rubbish those reports! Reports NOT TRUE Randy NOT Looking To Sell

For the original pile of pants report, Randy Looking For Cash Injection?

Fieldy: John Carew has again sung the praises of the faithful and thinks we will be the 12th man in Monday night's game against Man City. The truly awful title comes from Andy5759, you'd never catch me playing with such ridiculous puns would you. That said I only think it's truly awful owing to the fact he thought of it before I did! Onwards. Full article and quotes: Carew On Blogging

Martin O'Neill has quite rightly savaged Curtis Davies agent who made some pathetic comments last week which will only serve to alienate the player with the fans and the club - maybe the player should now step in and apologise for any offense caused, especially to the many thousands of Villa (and other) fans struggling to find gainful employment during the economic crisis which seemingly has passed by many players judging by their lack of respect towards those who struggle to pay for their tickets to watch these 'heroes'. Full article: MON Savages Curtis Davies Agent!

The weekend may be done and dusted but the Something For The Weekend column is still quality if you've not read it yet: Something For The Weekend (254)

Some pants report says Villa are in a fight with Wolves and Hull for former Arsenal, Spurs and Pompey defender Sol Campbell. Don't believe it for a minute.

Vital Villa asked in this weeks poll, Is NRC's Villa Career Effectively Over? 40% felt it wasn't over and that he has a 50% chance of remaining. That left 32% saying 100% yes, you don't cross MON and that his career is over. 22% voted, no, he'll work his way back leaving 6% voting 'It was anyway imho'. Be interesting to see if he makes the line up on Monday night v Manchester City!?

The ever funny Colin Davies is back with another song! Colin Davies Sings The Blues!

Thought for the day: I’m not sure which group I hate the most, U2 or Coldplay, but I think U2 has The Edge.

My September absence was a tad excusable! Well it was more than excusable around the time it normally comes out, there's no real excuse for the second half of September!
