More Aston Villa Press Transfer Talk!

Well well, the press are at least trying to bring us some gossip, made up it may be, but at least it gets the tongues wagging !

According to the Daily Star both Tottenham and Arsenal are interested in Nigel Hokey-Cokey. Spurs is no great shock really, Appy Arry has been linked before, not sure I've seen any links to Arsenal previously but hey, why not?! 2+2= NRC wanting back into London and last time I looked Arsenal were in London! :o)

Oh my lord, a link inwards! The Mirror say that Villa are set to bid for Standard Liege midfielder Milan Jovanovic in January and are hoping to be able to get the 28-year-old on the cheap as his contract ends next summer so - yes, you know, he could leave on a free.

Wiki on him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milan_Jovanovi%C4%87_(footballer_born_1981)

The Sun claim that Villa will offer Curtis Davis a new 3-year-deal worth around £45 000 a week despite the fact he is out of action for up to five months following his shoulder surgery.

I'm sorry, this report just makes me angry, £45 000? How is a young man expected to live on such poultry amounts? This is tantamount to slave labour, I never thought Villa would treat people so badly! :o)

Oh and Man Utd have apparently joined Chelsea, Spurs, Juventus and AC Milan in taking an interest in former Villan and current Bolton defender Gary Cahill. DOH!

I will be willing to take bets with as many as possible that Arsenal aren't even slightly interested in NRC! I could do with the money, so if there are any takers...! Ha! Also, if them clubs are genuinely interested in Gary Cahill then I suggest Spurs drop their interest and go for someone more realistic.

I completely understand why MON let Cahill go, he wanted to be guaranteed football and we couldn't do that, but I'm still really gutted that he went. He's going to be a very classy player.

Arsenal were in for NRC before he came here, we offered 8m and Arse wanted to pay considerably lower than that. That's what my Arse bandit mate told me anyway. NRC for Villa!

Cahill did not want guaranteed first team football - that is a myth - he wanted assurances he would be in and about the first team. Certainly 3rd choice CB at worst, he knew Laursen and Mellberg were there. With O'Neill putting Mellberg at RB he should have given him that guarantee. I honestly think that selling him was the worst decision O'Neill has made in his career....and I do not overstate that. He is still looking for that player!! Davies, Cuellar, Dunne, Collins, Knight etc. could not hold a candle to him!!! I also occasionally wonder about Steve Davis as well....really think he could have done a job for us in a 4-5-1, he didnt fit in a 4-4-2 but he made an excellent start for us and in the middle with Petrov and another could have progressed a lot!! The sell-on clause mess up has hit us again (remember Crouch!!!???)
