Villa Should Take Carling Cup Seriously + MOTM

Vital Villa asked how seriously we should take the Carling Cup before we took on Cardiff City on Wednesday night.

Seems very seriously, 82% voted it 'important, go for it!'

16% voted 'progress would be nice but not over worried' which left 2% believing the league and FA Cup were more worthy of our concentration.

The other two options (totally not bothered and should take it seriously but won't) both registered no votes.

Following that we asked for the Cardiff City man of the match following the 2-0 win.

Delph 39%
Petrov 16%
Agbonlahor 11%
Guzan 7%
Cuellar 6%
Shorey 5%
Collins 4%
Beye 3%
Milner 3%
Carew 3%
Gardner 2%
Albrighton 1%

Are Villa taking it seriously?? The game against Cardiff wasn't the most energetic or awe inspiring was it ? a pretty dull and dissapointing affair in all honesty, and where the hell was all the support, only 22.5K ?? pretty poor turn out IMO.

Article in metro paper today saying that all of a sudden clubs are taking it more seriously because, being practical, the league is out of the reach of all but one or two clubs, Europa League is now something like an extra two hundred and fifty games a season. So, winning a cup - for the sake of winning a cup is what it's all about now. Villa should take this very seriously, if only because the likes of ManCity and Spuds are.

It wasn't the prettiest game was it AV-Damo! lol. Thing is, the result was THE most important thing and to be fair to MON, the team he chose was pretty strong, it is fair enough to rotate as long as the options are good and this season the options are good. You'd certainly have come out of the game if we'd lost annoyed because it was played at a strange pace and as you say, the attendance/atmosphere was low also but I don't think it would have been fair to lay that on MON not taking it seriously? Also, as I said in my match report, it was difficult to break down Cardiff as they had got 9 men behind the ball whenever we went forward only leaving Boothroyd up there. Looking forward to see who we get in the next round, bring them on!
