Unoial Villa News...

Snippet in the Daily Mail today says we are looking at Feyenoord’s 22-year-old Holland Under-21 midfielder Jonathan De Guzman who is apparently out of contract at the end of the season. Manchester City, Chelsea and Valencia are also interested.

Fieldy: It seems not appearing on the pitch isn't the only thing Freddy missed, he's done yet another interview already! The official site is in Fredster overdrive at the moment, it's actually becoming difficult to remember which interview has already been covered on little old Vital Villa as the last thing loyal readers want is for us to start repeating ourselves....I say for us to start repeating ourselves. Full article: Boum Boum's Interview Overdrive

Fieldy: Freddy Bouma isn't just content to have returned to training, he's got a very clear message for Mr Shorey and Mr Warnock...'gis us me shirt back!' In an interview on the official site Freddy has insisted that the final piece in the recovery from injury jigsaw is simply match fitness. Full article: Bouma's Wants His Shirt Back

Vital Villa asked for your Man of the match v Blues. No real shock that the two new arrivals, Richard Dunne (from Manchester City) and James Collins (from West Ham) fought it out as they made such solid debut's (as did Stephen Warnock to be fair!) The winner by 1% was Richard Dunne (38%) so by the fact he won by 1% I reckon you can work out yourselves what James Collins got... answers on a postcard to someone who cares! Milner has warned on the official site that Portsmouth could be dangerous this weekend after making such a bad start to the season: www.avfc.co.uk

Fieldy: Martin O'Neill has backed Carlos Cuellar to become a real star for Villa this season, even if he's playing right back. Speaking to Lisa Smith of the Birmingham Mail, Martin O'Neill was full of praise for Cuellar after his Man of the Match performance against Blues last weekend. Cuellar hasn't had it easy since his £7.8 million move from Scottish giants Rangers 13 months ago. His early Villa career was blighted with niggling injuries and he struggled in pre season. When he did get into the first team he was more often than not 'uncomfortable' and his aclimatisation to the Premiership wasn't helped with stints at right back as he was trying to find his feet. Fieldy asks Why Did Distin Discount Villa Park?

Fieldy: Martin O'Neill has admitted he is envious that Everton and Fulham will be slogging it out in the Europa League tonight after Vienna dumped us on our Arse...played last night. Speaking on the official site this morning, Monny couldn't help but wonder 'what if' as our fellow Premiership colleagues take on AEK Athens and CSKA Sofia respectively tonight. However, their is a bright side. It has allowed him all week to work with the team on ensuring we take a further 3 points this season from Pompey. Full article: Monny Has Europa Complex

PL rule changes for next season: Villa Receive Automatic Boost From Next Season

Fieldy: Martin O'Neill has admitted that news of the new Premier League squad cap will barely enter his thoughts, unless he's asked questions about it. Speaking on the official site days after Richard Scudamore finally got his way on 'home grown' players and squad caps and other such pointless politically correct regulations, hardly anyone at Villa has batted an eyelid...including the fans. From the beginning of next season as we know, each club will have to have at least 8 players who qualify as home grown in a maximum squad of 25. Full article: PL Squad Cap Causes No Concern For MON

James Milner believes Villa are slowly turning into a very dangerous outfit because of complimentary partnerships between players on the pitch. 'These partnerships can take time - and we have developed some good partnerships all over the field,' Milner told the official site. 'I've been here over a year now and obviously playing with Youngy and other players, you get that understanding.' Full quotes: Milly - Love Thy Premier Partners

Voice of the Holte says get yourself down to Villa Park for the Pompey (and every other) game: Portsmouth Attendance? Why Not Bolster It?

It's rumoured that Martin O'Neill has agreed to send Marc Albrighton to Sherwood Forest to give him increased opportunities to mug left backs. According to a rumour in the Mirror, Monny has been speaking to Forest counterparts over a deal to allow our talented right midfielder to turn out at the City Ground for the next month.

Fieldy on Acorns: The Financial Cost Of Supporting Acorns...Is It No Cost At All? Makes for an interesting read + a link to our Vital Villa Acorns 450 challenge.. got any spare change guvnor?! (£247 raised so far, wahey..!) Full article: The Financial Cost Of Supporting Acorns

MON has told Gabby that enough is enough with his packing on the muscle, in the E&S he said: 'He felt as if he needed to get a bit stronger. He is particularly strong now - that's encouraging and he needs that. But I'm not so sure he needs to do that much more.'

Viz thought for the day: ' WHY DON'T NHS bosses start hiring obsessive compulsives as nurses? Their attention to hygiene and constant hand washing would see an end to MRSA outbreaks in no time.'
