Collins and Dunne For Debut?

Martin O'Neill has no problems throwing both James Collins and Richard Dunne into the derby match this weekend if needed, believing both players are more than equipped to deal with it.

With Curtis Davies now 'out' for a period of months Monny will have to call on at least one of the new signings as it's highly unlikely we'll see Ciaran Clark in the starting line up again.

This isn't causing him a headache though:

'It's a big game to start in but they are two international players, who know the score. I have no concerns about either of them in the game.'

Monny continues to talk about the experience both players have in 'other' derbies from their career, citing Dunne specifically who has taken part in both the Manc and Scouser derbies (not really a patch on this one are they though!) and with Wet Spam, Collins has a fair few under his belt also.

'The great thing is they can make themselves instant heroes in this game. It's the way the fixtures have fallen for them.'

As I've said before, hattricks for all would certainly get the crowd warming to them from the off.

Perhaps... Warnock, Collins, Dunne, Cueller as the back four..

I doubt it, it will be Warnoock Cuellar, Dunne, Beye, unless he decides to start Luke young which i doubt he will as Beye has done well so far. i think Dunne and Collins are similar and will fight it out for one CB position and Cuellar and Davies are similar andwill fight it out for the other. We have good cover at right and left back so hopfully it will be the end of experimentation out there

I spoke to a mate who's a Hammer and he speaks really highly of Collins. I'm looking forward to seeing him play, he sounds very no nonsense. He talked of being the new Laursen. But then Salifou is (apparantly) the new Zidane...

I reckon he should give Ciaran Clark another start, It'd be great experience for him, I'm happy about having Dunne and Collins, but make them earn their places, so they don't become complacent.......just my opinion :)

"I reckon he should give Ciaran Clark another start". I couldn't disagree more. To dump CC in the middle of a local derby would be really, really unfair. Yes, he could become a hero overnight, but imagine if he was at fault for a winning SHA goal ...

C&B82- me too, I’ve know a WH season ticket holder who’s furious about the sale of Collins to us! He really, really rates him (in fact the more he went on, the more I got the impression that he would turn for him….)
