'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Taylor Envious Of Derby Debutants

Ian Taylor has admitted that one of his biggest Villa career regrets is not being able to take part in a full blown derby match.

Speaking on the official site, Taylor was positively beaming about having Blues back in the Premiership after their unfortunate relegation (he, he) but he did stop short of saying 'nice and easy 6 points', obviously he doesn't want to omen us.

'It's a massive weekend for the City. It's great to have the derby back as I want these games to be a permanent part of the fixture calendar every season.'

Taylor describes the derbies as more than games, calling them events that gets the whole City buzzing and he does take some delight in hearing managers attempt to play down the significance of such games when 'let's be honest, Pride is at stake and everyone wants to win.'

Speaking of his regret Taylor adds:

'I look back and I never played in a derby match. I always had bad luck at the time with injuries and suspensions.

'Looking from the outside now, you're so envious of the lads going out and playing in these games.'

It's hard to believe actually that he didn't play in a derby. Ok it's only been recently the Blues have realised that a division existed above them but I thought we stumbled across them enough times for Taylor to have played.

I'm obviously wrong but that is surprising.
