Luke Young Ready For Derby

Great news, Welcome back!

I'd be worried about him playing in this one. Any other team then I would be delighted but I am 100% confiedent that a section of our friendly neighbours will take great pleasure in singing songs about his brother.

Could well have a back line of Young - Dunne - Collins - Warnock on Sunday. Welcome back Luke

Sign of the times. We are likely to be without 2 players in defence, Bouma and Davies. However we still have 2 right backs, two left backs and 4 (if you include Ciaran Clarke) centre backs to choose from. We have 4 strikers going for 1 position and about 9 or 10 midfielders for the 5 positions available. Small squad??? Not any more. This season will be a good one regardless of the result on Sunday. However after spending £48 for my ticket on Sunday, I am hoping we give the Dildo Salesmen from Somali Heath one hell of a beating.

However, the game is only really significant in that it represents a potential three points for the claret 'n' blue. Three points towards success. Merseyside, Mancunian and N. London derbies seem a lot more respectful than Brummie ones. Really don't like the animosity. Bluenosers are human beings too, y'know!!!

The Dildo Salesmen from Somali Heath goes hand in hand. You obviously have never been anywhere near a North London or Manchester derby to come out with such rubbish. As for Merseyside derbys. My old lady has been a season ticket holder at the s***e for 50 years (fortunately I followed my Dad). It doesn't mean I don't want to stick another 5 past them then go in to work like the cat that got the cream. However do I want to see any one hurt? Of course not? We obviously do not want a repeat of the death at the last Villa v b-lose game . . . . .god forbid. But do I want to sing my heart out for the Villa? Yes. And yes that will be more so than usual. Do I want to remind them how crap they are. Oh yes indeed. Do I wany to go to my Mothers on Sunday evening, with 3 points in the bag and not even have to mention the game until she brings up the subject. Oh yes yes yes. Animosity? You bet. And this is where the irrational sets in. I have family and friends who I love to bits. But do I hate the b-lose. Oh yes. 3 points? It is more important than that. As for neanderthal?? SK-I live in the south, but I spent some of my childhood virtually in the shadow of VP (in a Villa neighbourhood). Like many Villa supporters I have/have had friends, relatives etc who are Bluenosers, Baggies etc. Sure, the Blues are Villa's biggest rivals, however the Brum isn't Glasgow. As far as I'm concerned the Blues' supporters biggest crime is supporting Birminghams second best team. I'd rather the Villa concentrated on beating Man U at home for once. Also, as for "Somali Heath", Aston isn't excactly Anglo-Saxon central. That sort of comment is just cheap and offensive, and beneath VOTH. For a moment SK, when you asked for my address, I thought you wanted to come 'round and whack me!!!

must admit I prefer the banter to the bile and hatred that both sides come out with at times... all goes a bit beyond footie really and that is madness.

I was just asking as that kind of response usually comes from people that don't live in Brum. I fall somewhere in the middle purely because I don't see this as our biggest game of the season like they do. But it's so easy to hate them given how they hate us.

Actually VWRA being a banker nowadays is worse than being a *anker. As for the Somali Heath jibe. That isn't meant to be offensive to anybody. Little Italy, Chinatown, The Jewish quarter are all areas where there is a strong presence from those particular communities. It is not offensive that the areas have those names. Somali Heath does exactly as it says on the tin!! As for the statement that they are our biggest rivals, rubbish! Manure, Redscouse and teams competing at the end of the table that we want to be involved with are our rivals. B-lose are our local rivals. It is about fan rivalry, bragging rights etc with friends colleagues and relatives. Up the Villa.

You know that, I know that, trouble is there are some so-called "supporters" and "fans", who don't know that. I remember the eighties (Heysel etc) too. As The Fear said, "that is madness". UTV!!

I only remember three games against them in the 80's (the year we had an aggregate of 13-0 over 3 cup games) and I wasn't allowed to go to any - I was about 8, and it was my first season of going down! It's true though, I mean I've never took them seriously, which just makes them angrier! Not long after they did the double over us when they first come back up I saw a bloke I used to work with, and he didn't even say hello, he just said, "Who's the biggest club in Birmingham now then?"... to which I obviously replied, "Well, us" in a tone that let him know how ridiculous I found the question. Then before he had time to rebuttle, my phone went off with perfect comedy timing. God bless my Ma & asking what I want for tea! The point to all that is, it's how delusional they are, how obsessed with us they are, how they would happily get relegated if it meant they could have 6 points off us... well it's just sad isn't it. Bless 'em ;o)

I wouldnt play him. Beye not done much wrong and should keep his place. Young will get all the grief from the Brum fans......just like we do to Joey Barton about his brother so we cant really take the moral high ground (even though he is a thug, the chant was long time before he was public enemy number 1). Other than that, there will be at least 6 places between us come the end of the season, so focus a comfy 3 points should be all that matters! A nice stroll like the Fulham game would be delightful!! Haha!

On the issue of the article .... looking forward to seeing Luke back, great player and far superior to Beye IMO. On the Issue of the Blouse .... I don't live in B6, I'm about 90mins down the M5, (but i still get caught up in the 'local rivalry' and 'bragging rights'). I have a couple of bluenose mates, but the banter and rivalry is always friendly and good natured. And i was on holiday for the 5-1 demolition in 2008, and watched the game in a bar in Lanzorote with my son and 5 blouse fans, and they were a brilliant bunch of lads (they even bought me a beer when they scored their consolation goal)...... what's my point? well its that both sets of fans love to hate each other, but really it's just about the bragging rights, and generally it's all in good humour !

Darn' tooting Damo. I'm actually having breakfast with 2 fellow Villans & 2 'Noses on the morning of the game, before I retreat home to watch it in the comfort of my living room away from all those silly people that want a fight. Totally agree about him being far superior to Beye too. Beye will do as back-up I guess but for me Young is a far better player; I just worry about THIS being the game where he comes back.

Birmingham fans would take 18th in Prem as a successful season if it meant they finished above Villa. (Never going to happen.) Would have welcomed Luke Young this weekend but all the comments have definitely changed my mind. Hope MO'N holds it off a week. That being said, putting Gardner in there may be a better option than Sidwell. And how I would have loved Olof to be lining up this weekend.

Yeah i agree with that, this is defo the wrong game to come back in, and i'm worried that the local rivalry may be too much and lead to (from a small section of the crowd) some chanting that's aimed a bit too close to home, verging on personal/family insults for luke. probably better that he returns for the home game against Pompey.
