'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Massive Boost With Central Signings

Martin O'Neill has described the capture of Richard Dunne and James Collins as a massive boost for the club.

Speaking on the official site Monny said he was especially pleased by being able to land a player of Richard Dunne's pedigree and described Collins as an 'excellent acquisition.'

'It's just great to get them in. I think it gives everybody a boost around the football club and hopefully they stay injury-free and are ready to go.

'Richard Dunne has been around a long, long time. He's 29-years-old and has been at Manchester City for around eight years now and Everton before that. His pedigree is pretty well established.

'Maybe less so for the likes of James, who I remember seeing play as a young kid at Cardiff.

'I just think for value for money, if he stays fit, he'll be an excellent acquisition.'

We certainly have some competition at centre half now, which was very much needed after surviving with only two centre halves for the start of the season.

Onwards and upwards...we hope.

Now the back four seem to have some solidity and, hopefully, we will see less of the playing people out of position this year, which must be good.

Davies could be out for 5months, so i expect Dunne and Cueller to be at the back, i dunno how Collins will get his chance, i wouldn't like to see him play in the blues game, need an easier match for him to test him out, but without these signings we would of really struggled.

Happy days really, we should concede less goals than last season with the strength and depth at the back we now have.

Monster sounds good. I take it you are referring to Dunne?
