MON - Davies Could Be Out For 5 Months

MON - Davies Could Be Out For 5 Months

Villa boss Martin O'Neill has warned in the Express & Star that Curtis Davies could be out for up to five months.

Davies is due to see a specialist this week, if he hasn't already (the report last week said he'd see the specialist Tuesday or Wednesday) and MON says that a similar problem for Luke Moore kept the player out for five months following surgery.

On the arrival of Richard Dunne from Manchester City and James Collins from West Ham, he says he is 'pleased' to have them at Villa especially as ' Curtis will probably be out for a fairly lengthy period.' Adding that surgery is looking 'more and more likely'. He also says if he does need it they will make sure it is done soon, maybe even next week, as it is 'important for the players future.'

He has also updated about Wilfred Bouma saying he is 'not doing too badly' adding the player seems happy with how things are progressing and on our new signing from Middlesbrough, Stuart Downing he added, 'Stewart is doing a little bit of straight-line running. We are just taking it slowly.' He also says 'He's brilliant....Having met him over the last couple of days I'm really looking forward to getting out and training and working with him.'

Our latest poll asks who you think should be our defensive partnership, with this in mind you'd have to assume as a start off, Carlos and Dunne I'd assume?

Every time he seems to be getting a bit of form he seems to be out with an injury. I'm glad we've got Dunne in to fill the void but I still think It's Davies position long term.

If Bouma is out for too much longer does anyone think he'll be considering retirement? He's not the youngest and will certainly of lost a yard..... (I bloody hope not)

Cuellar has started to show a bit of class, he'll need to to keep out Collins, I don't think Carlos is one of MON's 'untouchables'. Having said that, I'd like to see what Collins can do.

Davies and Dunne when fit. Until then Dunne plus one other. Don't know enough about Collins to be honest but can he really be worse than Cuellar?
