More Transfer Talk! Harewood To Newcastle?

Oh no, the transfer gossip continues! Don't panic, it is only about a loan!

Apparently, according to a report in The Mirror Marlon Harewood might join Newcastle United on loan next week.

Makes sense, hope this goes through for him as he clearly isn't anywhere near first team contention for Villa, actually, come to think of it, he isn't even in reserve contention, he's not that bad is he?

Anyway, they claim that the 30-year-old could be on the way up t'north after a potential move to Hull fell through on transfer deadline day.

Lisa Smith in the The Birmingham Post has a report explaining why the deal fell through.

His move to Hull all hinged on Daniel Cousin moving to Burnley but that move didn't materialise.

The report quotes Harewood's agent “Having taken the call from Hull boss Phil Brown I really thought the deal was going to happen, but that's football and this is what can happen on deadline day.'

He also says that Big Marlon will 'bounce back' from this blow.

I really hopes this happens for him, he's never moaned and whilst he clearly isn't good enough, he showed in his first season that he can be useful when used properly. He needs a move and will no doubt do a half-decent job for someone in the Championship

shame it didn't work out for him at Wolves, was hoping that would lead to a permanent move, don't like to see players (despite the fact they are well paid so needn't over worry!) get left out in the cold. He seems to have the right attitude, just never was going to be the sort of player we needed unfortunately.

I like Marlon Harewood. I think the move to Newcastle will be ideal for all parties involved. Harewood was unfairly pushed down the pecking order by the arrival of the goal scoring machine that is Heskey! Good luck to him if it happens, but I don't think he'll need it in the Championship. Who wants to bet that he scores more in the 3 months at Newcastle than Heskey will score all season?

i dont think that hes much worse than heskey, but i hope it works out for him either way. i think we were all not pleased when he came in but he proved us wrong by scoring afew goals when they were needed

I never thought he got a fair run in the team. 29 appearances & 5 goals according to wiki and many of them coming off the bench. I guess MON must have seen his limitation in training. Shame

I think the Hare has handled himself quite professionally through this whole debacle. When he's been on reserve duty he's been giving it his all & always supportive of the younger lads. I think he's a very similar player to Heskey but obvisouly not quite what MON was hoping for. Good luck to him if he gets the move to Toon. He'll be remembered for that overhead kick against 'Pule that's for sure!
