THE FINAL COUNTDOWN! Transfer Talk
At last, it is nearly over...!
Several reports including the Birmingham Mail claim that Manchester City captain Richard Dunne will have a medical at Villa today before completing his £6million move to Villa. The delay, as widely reported, has apparently been his pay off from Man City which some reports say could be as high as £6million as he was due for a testimonial for 10 years service next year.
According to the Daily Express West Ham have fended off would be suitors (including Villa) for Matthew Upson by putting a £15million price tag on the defender.
Sky Sports have 'sources' claiming that Nicky Shorey is off to Portsmouth on a season-long loan deal.
Janine Self of The Sun Villa are about to complete the £5million signing of West Ham centre-back James Collins (West Ham Fans Opinion on JC)
The Sun also claim if we can't tie up the deal for Dunne Villa will return for Matthew Upson. I find that one harder to believe as they would then be left short of centre backs, something - cash strapped or not - no sensible club would do...!
One we've been linked with all summer, Spurs winger David Bentley is apparently off to Manchester City in a swap deal involving Martin Petrov.
Curtis Davies said in the Halifax Courier (!) on the nearly Dunne deal that he is surprised that City are letting him leave as he has been 'up there' with the very best of City players.
'He has been a stalwart. He has played with a lot of different centre-half's but he has always looked good. It is strange they are looking to let him go - but he would be a good addition here. There loss would be our gain because his experience is untold - but has still got enough in the tank to play for a few more years.' He also says Dunne is 'old style' being 'solid and strong'.
