Ralph Ellis of The Mirror has an interview with Villa striker John Carew saying there was no bust up with Martin O'Neill and that he has been out injured. John Carew Carew, His toe hurt in his shoe, And then he just got the flu, John Carew Carew...! The Hulk said there was no 'hocus pocus' or any problems behind closed doors, just that he had a fever. Mike Field: Young, Milly and Heskey have again been selected by Fabio Capello for another pointless friendly and one WC clash. England face Slovenia in a testing friendly clash 4 days prior to our World Cup qualifier against Croatia on September 9th. Apparently a victory would see us qualify for the finals in South Africa next summer. Full article: Trio In England Call Ups

Martin O'Neill has praised debutant Ciaran Clark for putting in a classy performance as he covered the injured Curtis Davies today. Fans have been raving about the ability of Clark for the last few years and his development seems to show no signs of slowing down leading Monny to tag him 'a cool young customer.' Speaking on the official site Mon was full of praise for the reserve skipper, and whilst he's certainly done his chances no harm today if he's bidding for our 4th place centre half, it could be too much of a push to consider him 3rd choice just yet though. If the rumoured signing of Dunne turns out to be true his experience could be paramount in Clark's future development which isn't all bad. Full article: Cool As A Ciaran Clark

Nigel Hokey-Cokey told Sky 'I'm 100 per cent committed and I'm always committed to the cause. It's not just my own personal pride, it's for my family and my friends and people that support me. Whether it's football or whatever occupation I was doing I'd be committed to the cause, and that's me. Sometimes it might be a weakness to do it, but I do wear my heart on my sleeve and that's just me, I can't change who I am.'

Steve Sidwell is happy with Villa's start telling AVTV: 'You look at our fixtures we've had in the first three games in the Premier League, we took six points from nine - and obviously that was with Liverpool at Anfield. We would have taken that. Now we can go into a bit of a break with a bit of confidence there.'
