Transfer Rumours - Fear NOT Set To Be Revealed

2 days to go... oh what fun we've had! As you all know by now, the transfer window closes tomorrow at 5pm... can't wait!

Damn and blast, when I saw this headline in the Sun I thought I'd been signed: O’Neill reveals Villa fan fear

The Sun have little more than a 'snippet' claiming that Pompey boss Paul Hart will take Nicky Shorey on loan before the transfer deadline closes tomorrow.

Really? Can't see how or why we would let him go, he played well again yesterday and our squad is too small to be loaning players out unless there is an instant re-call in the loan deal terms?

The Daily Mail says that Villa want either Matthew Upson or James Collins from West Ham in before the transfer window closes. Zola apparently is only prepared to allow one to leave, Upson is also a target for Fiorentina. Oh please, let it be Upson that we get!

So, Dunne perhaps and another central defender? Anyone think we'll get another surprise or will that be that for this summer?!

Dunne, upson, davies, cuellar. Bear in mind I rate Dunne, but that sounds like a strong lineup, esp with Clarks promising debut.

Dunne and upson and I'll actually consider this transfer window to be marginally successful. With Beye, Young, Dunne, upson, warnock, I think we would finally have strength in depth in defense... Midfield was always going to be solid for us (we still need a creative midfielder). Only worry is still our forwards... Gabby is by no means prolific, Carew is but he never plays... And thats basically where our options end (maybe del can be considered)... Still need some real top quality players, but if we can fill out the squad, things will lot look so dire...

Downing, Delph, Beye, Warnock, Dunne and Upson and i would say we have done well this summer, we have managed to hold onto Young and we now have Gabby looking quite a threat with Reo Coker finding his passing boots i reckon we'll be ok, i'm suprised we haven't brought in another striker and i can't believe Harewood is still at the club, but saying that i would play him before i would even consider Heskey, if we get Dunne and Upson i'll be a very happy chappy, if life was perfect we would bring in a creative player to mix it up abit to replace Sidwell and perhaps a Striker so Agbonlahor doesn't burn out.

Agree with you about the forwards Villa 4 Ever. In a 4-5-1 formation (and even 4-4-2) the squad has only two effective strikers, Gabby and Carew (and Gabby is still learning the game). If one of those two gets injured, then the team is in big trouble.

The 'Fonz' will play a part, he came back so late from the u19s he is effectively having a pre-season now, as soon as MON thinks he is fit he will be included a lot more this season

I don't know JP, but I reckon you could do a lot better than some of the Villa Park staff who are responsible for press releases, PR etc., their work is pretty bland and boring, unlike your good self.

I wasn't saying he was the answer to all our prayers, I was simply answering the query by some as to why isn't he being sent out on loan if he is not part of MONs plans, IMO he is part of MONs plans but not yet as MON thinks he is not fit enough, I didn't imply as to whether this would get the prem woried or not, but this is why I don't think we will be buying another striker

yeah zat knight isnt a great player but kranjcar has ability and is skillful not really a MON type player tho as is abit lazy but i think your going over the top johnproche

Jolf thought my chance had come at last! Thanks Obediah appreciated, I think some take my guff far too seriously and if they realised it was tongue in cheek as you obviously do, we'd all be happier!!!!!!!!!!!
Think The Fonz will progress and get chances this season, lets hope in a few seasons he is a first team regular and banging them in, he looks to have the confidence and ability, I'm sure they'll break him in slowly, I have great faith in our youth team chaps to do the right thing with the youngsters.

Well, I have to say that not paying double Collins to get Upson would be a big mistake. It is one thing if West Ham say he is not for sale, but if his price is 10, i say we pay 10. As for the striker situation, I would have loved us to put in a bid for Marcus Berg at the beginning of the window. Realistically, I think it will come down to signing Dunne and Collins, but I would love to be surprised with Upson
