John Carew is looking for Villa to push on and get a win v Fulham to blow away the cobwebs from our Europa exit. 'We need to forget about this game. We played well against Liverpool and we need to bring those positive thoughts from that match into the weekend now. We want to take charge at home and make a good start - that's vital. We must now think about getting into Europe next season and that means doing well in the Barclays Premier League.'

Steve Wade: And as ever, we keep saying shoulda, coulda and woulda; which makes it a bit like life. ... Full article:

Martin O'Neill says the signing of Stephen Warnock would have come a year earlier if he had had his choice. 'I actually enquired about Stephen over a year ago. He wasn't available back then. I like his versatility - he has played midfield, left-back and although it's not his favoured position he has played at times in an attacking left-sided role. Overall, it's his versatility, his attitude and his enthusiasm and determination that I really like. I think he will bring all those things to our team.'

He said: 'I have enquired about a number of players. We are trying. I will use all the financial backing that I have - I will utilise that. And I will take it right up to the end. After Tuesday, you can't do anything and you are left with what you have. I will try and get players in. We have a number in mind. We are hopeful of doing things.' MON says Villa have to use Everton as a beacon of hope, they went out of the UEFA early last season and bounced back to beat us to 5th: 'We are out now and we will have to focus again on the Barclays Premier League. This time last season, Everton went out to Standard Liege and fought back magnificently to have a season to remember. They ended up finishing fifth and made it to the FA Cup final. We should take some consolation and heart from that. This team is prepared to go and do battle again.'

Sexist thought for the day: What should you give a woman who has everything? A man to show her how to work it.
