Transfer Talk, MON On Window - Just Scrap It!

Transfer Talk, MON On Window - Just Scrap It!

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday... torture over until January!

The Sun today claim that Everton are set to pip Villa to the signing of Portsmouth defender Sylvain Distin.

They have 'insiders' at Goodison saying that the Toffees are set to make the £5million signing ahead of us and obviously Everton are in dire need following the exit of £oleon £escott to Man City.

The Daily Mail have a comment about Distin also saying Pompey want £6million for him and claim Everton don't want to pay that much as the player can leave on a free next summer.

The Daily Mail have a report claiming Villa and Manchester City have agreed a £6million fee for City Captain Richard Dunne.

The 29-year-old was quoted this summer saying he wanted to stay at City but as the Daily Mail say, with the arrival of Lescott and Toure, his first team chances might well be far less than he'd like.

The report says personal terms might be a sticking point, they quote £55 000 a week wages, well?

Meanwhile Martin O'Neill says he is still looking to 'bolster the squad' but refuses to name names... quite rightly!

He told Sky Sports; 'It goes without saying that defensively we are still looking for a Martin Laursen-type player and it is not easy in this day and age. I hope that we will be able to get in a new player before the deadline but until you get the players actually signed it would be difficult to comment. But we know that we have about a week to get the squad together.'

He also says that business has been difficult which is reflected in the lack of deals this summer for many clubs. 'That might tell you something and of course the market gets a bit disjointed as well and everything has a follow-on effect. All of those things are taking place at this moment but I am hoping we will be able to add some players to our squad because it will be important to us in the coming months.'

Wish they would just scrap the transfer window and go back to how it was. OR how about the transfer window closes BEFORE the new season starts, then clubs would have to get their business done in time for kick off and every team would know where they stand up until the January transfer window !?

it doesn't make much sense does it to have the transfer window interfering with the start of the season and disrupting team preperations... ie £escott to City has changed Moyes plans totally. Surely if it ended BEFORE the season started, everyone would know where they stand at kick off?

Evening Mail saying is between Dunne and Taylor and that Everton are favourites to sign Distin, we need 2 more centre halves and i would prefer Distin over Dunne. Distin and Taylor would be good.

Why not a two week transfer window?? It seems most clubs wait until the last minute anyway so why not just bring the last minute that bit closer?
