Villa Bogof In Europe

A reminder of the offer Villa have come up with for the Rapid Vienna Europa Cup play off second round game at Villa Park this Thursday night .... bloody hell that was a long explanation!

Villa are offering fans the perfect incentive to roar them on to victory against Rapid Vienna - the chance to attend a Europa League group game for free.

Martin O'Neill's men still have a great chance of booking a spot in the next round of the competition, with the prospect of some exciting games against the likes of Roma, Lazio, Ajax and Benfica.

The team need your support as they aim to overturn the 1-0 deficit in Thursday's second leg at Villa Park.

All supporters who purchase or have already purchased tickets for the game can attend one of the three home group stage games free of charge, should we qualify.

Those buying tickets on the day of the game should retain their stubs to confirm their purchase.

*Terms and conditions apply. AVFC will advise which game is complimentary.

Thursday August 27 - ko 8pm
Europa League
Villa Park

Prices: 15 to 20 (adults) 8 to 12 (under-16s) No other concessions apply

After the great performance v Liverpool, hopefully those floating or considering watching the game on tv instead will re-consider and be down at Villa Park, the club have certainly met us more than half way to put this offer on for us all.

Another superb offer from Mr L. My North Stand ticket was 15 - now working out at 7.50 per game. Wow - 7.50 to watch the first team in competivive action. Top, top dollar. Thank you Randolph. Any fans who are planning to stay in and watch Channel 5 should hang their heads in shame.

good to be there, nice that the game isn't out of site and we have something to play for because a lot of European games (not just Villa in case someone chooses to misread this as negative or a dig!) can be very chesslike and boring. Don't think anyone really needs to hang their heads in shame though, times are tough and Birmingham and the outlying area has been hit with this recession and especially Rover closing.

Official bus transport does not run this season for cup games. Therefore some will find it harder to travel. Come on Randy, send the bus - we want it!
For those of you that live closer, anyone got a crafty cunning parking spot to share?

My parking spot disappeared 3 matches before the end of last season. BUGGER!! Got my ticket though. Really up for it after last night. Lets hope we get a similar performance.

"Europa League", big deal!!! AVFC, est 1874, shouldn't be scratching around for third rate "silverware". The catastrophe that was "Moscow" had at least one positive effect. It destroyed the Intertoto Cup in England (anyone know of any major clubs competing this year???). The Villa should be aiming for a top three league finish (auto CL qualification) short term, EPL title medium term, CL winners long term. Otherwise whats the point??? "MON the Messiah" should also get off the realistic Villan's back. If Villa were cheered off at Wigan, if NRC thanked the manager for being an unused sub in the same game, If MON was hailed as the new Brian Clough by the Holte end, If the neanderthal "tactics" aka 4-4-2 were considered cutting edge by the Villa faithfull, and if Heskey was compared to Van Basten, do you think MON would have played 4-5-1, Gabby alone up front, and Reo-Coker in CM against L'pool (and got a result). One doubts it (being v.charitable). Sixth place is "best of the rest". Booing the team, and personal attacks on MON, are inexcusable and can't be condoned. Villa are worth more than domestic knockout cups though. The Europa League is a nothing competition. CL or bust!!! UTV!!

The above should read "against Wigan", not "at Wigan". The match was obviously at VP.

VillaWillRiseAgain - will you be going to the Europa League final if Villa get there? Will it still be third rate silverware then? I'd rather win the Europa League than the FA cup...

PiperUK-The Europa League ceased to have any real meaning to me after "Moscow". How can MON expect the fans to take seriously a competition he treated with such disdain last season? Also, UEFA's "rebranding" of a competition many of us will always remember as the "UEFA cup", shows that they don't really have much confidence in it either. Expect more rebranding of the tournament in due course. I'm glad it means something to you, and I do hope Villa beat RV. However, I don't think the club has the depth or quality of squad to win the competition, and it would perhaps be a good thing if the team was eliminated now rather than later. It would free up resources for an attempt at top four. However, I certainly don't think MON should put out a skeleton team again, a la CSKA. Everyone on here wants success for Villa. I'd trade all the cups this season for a top four/three finish. That is real success in the modern game. UTV!!

Back to the same old argument that finishing 4th is a success! Having not won any silverware for 13 years (and that trophy was a worthless one to many) what better building block and pick up for the fans than winning a competition we've not won before. You might believe that the squad is wafer thin to be competing in the Europa League but this was the case last year too, so why has nothing been done to rectify that situation knowing we are in the same competition again. Unless of course MON is of the same thinking as yourself and wants to throw the competition to concentrate on finishing 4th in the league... an achievement not worthy of a mention in any teams 'honours' and will backfire on MON as it did last year. It's time that some Villa fans had a reality check and starting believing that winning silverware is the first building block to attracting players and pushing for Champions League. We have tried for 13 years to get there with no other success on the pitch so maybe taking a competition seriously and trying to win it will only breed further success, especially now we have the backing of new owner who may invest in a successful team, unlike the previous incumbent who sold off our assets each time we had a sniff of success. We need to walk before we can run and there are some fans who think because we won the league and European Cup 27 years ago we have a right to be in the top 4, reality check all round please.
