Match report from glensider, who is winding his merry way home from Anfield as we speak, in the morning.
Congrats to Martin for playing 4 5 1 and getting a much needed result, many congrats to Nigel Hokey-Cokey for putting in a REAL battling performance and to Brad Friedel for his show stopping man of the match performance.
I'd not have put 20p on that result, makes it all the sweeter. As said earlier, every time you write off the Villa, they offer up a little ray of sunshine, long may that formation and that spirit continue, they were a different team to Saturday's and all of a sudden, things don't look so bad!
Now lets see a few arrivals, a win in Europe and a decent home performance v Fulham.

I hope we're all a bit happier now - some of the abuse MON and the team have received recently has been unjust, although we definately do still need some action in the transfer market. We have a team there, and a with a few choice additions, we can still compete. Roll on Thursday, and then Fulham on Sunday. Have it!

Wow is the only word! I woke up this morning scouring the web for links on players and was on a bit of a downer again. Watched the match and it has brightend my night. We was amazing, Man of the Match performance by Reo Coker showed real leadership driving the team on. 4-5-1 suits our style better, Heskey comeing on late was a good move by MON aswell. Why has no-one mentioned Davies, the man was a mountain tonight, got his head on everything, almost Larsen-esque. To be fair, 11 great performances, everyone played their part. Up the villa! Up the 4-5-1!

The defense was under much more pressure tonight than it was against Wigan,yet looked alot more comfortable.Having protection infront of them made a world of difference.

See the Stats article for an example of somebody who would rather belittle the performance of our players than celebrate our win. I think some are reacting against that sort of post/mentality, rather than your own and similar views.
