AstonVillaFC is fighting to be positive:
Optimism...
Is it worth it?
I have been and to some extent remain to be an optimist. It just gets harder and harder though. Here are some of my thoughts from this summer...
We lost Barry! 'Oh its fine, will allow us to play with a more mobile and free scoring midfield'
We lost Laursen! 'We have 2 quality centre halves (in my opinion) and will surely be signing some top quality competition'
We don't have enough goals! 'It's ok there are plenty of goals coming from midfield, and Gabby and Big John will score plenty!'
While we haven't acted as quickly or as effectively as possible, we have signed some good players. Delph was tracked by half of the Premier League, Downing when fit is a full English international, Beye is fairly highly rated, and what can we say about Marshall!!(most certainly tongue in cheek on that last one).
Through all that waffle my point is that we have problems, and the centre of defense is certainly one of them. We do however have a fairly good squad of players at the club right now, with the potential for more in the final week or so of the window. We also have some of the most highly rated English youngsters at then club, and more coming through the Youth teams.
The future is POTENTIALLY bright.
With a bit of money spent in this coming week, along with some luck and a lot of belief and support from us, the fans, as well as the team, we will hopefully have another positive season challenging the upper echelons of the top league in the world!! :D
